Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 371 & 372.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Benice send me a friend request so I can send you a private msg.  My son is in the same division. I am trying to find his bunk mates family on here but since we aren't allowed to use last names I can't just post it here on this board.

That's got me thinking....if anyone hears about other shipmates...would you want to know what they say about them good or bad? I think I definitely would want to know. I'm seeing it as any kind of insight on what they are going thoughbtogethernis better than none. We can't expect 88 strangers to get along and be instant BFF s so what do each of you think?

I personally will not post anything bad about anyone, even if my son mentions it. I figure he is telling me stuff and expects me to keep it between us! And at some point we all may meet at PIR and there isn't any point in making anyone feel bad. I want to connect with people who's names he mentions. I have sent him a list of last names of the people from our facebook groups or those that I am friends with here, but I am pretty sure that I would never say to one of them.....Hey my son says your son talks too much!  I am sure they are all learning at this point.  I hate seeing posts where people say stuff about the whole division not listening or not getting it together because that is only that person's perspective. The other person or persons are not there to defend themselves. We all would like to think that we raised our children to behave and do as told, but you just never know.  Thats my take on it!

I am not big on tattling!!  LOL

Oh no no I didn't mean POST it yikes! If its between you and SR of course thy is private but I'm just like ya know they all have their faults and I'd rather know something than nothing...in a private message of course. Just seeing if anyone else had an opinion! Cannot wait to hear from our SRs...hoping tomorrow is my day!

Kitten says Hello                  Good Morning!

aww that's cute :) Good afternoon!

I still have not received any mail from my SR. Hoping to receive something this week. I have been looking for the best prices flight, rooms, rental car. Any suggestions. I am a single Mom on a fixed income trying to do my best to get to Great Lakes to see my son PIR ceremony

If you're looking for a flight I suggest you book now since I've read that prices will probably be going up soon. The best way to find the best price is to search. I know Expedia is pretty good for low prices but you can/should check the other travel sites. Right now I think the cheapest round trip flights online are starting at $297 from LAX (I'm assuming that since your profile says you're in El Monte, CA). Just remember there's a $100 charge for changes/cancellations. I went with Southwest because while I trust my SR will graduate on time, there's a small chance he won't and the PIR date might change. Southwest has their no change fee policy which makes it cheaper if I do need to change flight dates. My round-trip ticket from Ontario Airport to Milwaukee, WI was $330. Milwaukee is the same distance (time wise) as the two CHI airports from the base. Southwest does not fly to O'hare (ORD) but it does fly into Midway (MDW) and Milwaukee (MKE).

The things you received in the mail should have hotel details with them. The Navy Lodge is $65 per night and doesn't have tax. I've heard that a few other places are around the same price range and fairly close as well. I'm not sure how much cheaper you can get though.

As for cheap car rentals, I've heard that Hotwire.com is one of the cheapest. If you have AAA, they're even cheaper for car rentals but that's only if you have AAA. One pro if you fly into MKE is that WI has a lower tax than IL so car rentals are slightly cheaper.

Thanks, everyone is so helpful. God Bless you!!

Still No phone call! I just want to hear his voice!!

Good Morning!!!  I still haven't heard from my son, Jeffrey (Jeff) , in Div 372. If anyone gets a message from their son in his division, is it possible to send word for me???  I have sent several letters, that I'm hoping he's received. My son is easy to remember...tall, usuallysmiles alot, and easy going.  Thanks a bunch!!! It would mean so much to hear about him!!!  Even more,,, I can't wait to hear his voice AND SEE HIM!!! :-)

We've not heard from our SR yet either, also 372 - hoping the mailman will bring me a letter today!!
