My son left on October 4th. I cant remember, is it 8 or 9 weeks? I am thinking graduation could be November 30 or December 7, which are both Fridays. He was told that A schools shut down over Christmas. Does that sound right? So, I wonder if he will go on to A school for a week or two and then come home over Christmas. Not sure. Any thoughts?

My son left oct 4th too.  As far as I can tell from all the reading and chatting I have done here, yes most of the A schools have what they call holiday stand down. I think that yes they will go to A school and get checked in and start working on learning the watches and earning their qualifications for the first phase. To come home for a visit they have to take leave. here is a good blog post explaining leave and liberty very well. http://www.navyformoms.com/profiles/blogs/leave-vs-liberty

I am hoping that it works out that my son can come home :) his sub school and probably A school are in Connecticut and we are in AZ so its not like we can visit over a weekend easily.

Yes, we are in Minnesota. Our son will also be in Conn for Sub School and A School. Thanks for the site!

maybe our boys will be in the same div :) I am  sure they will meet up at sub school. What job is he in for? Mine is SECF

That would be neat. He is going to be a Sonar Technician. What is an SECF?
