My daughter is in RCU for stress fractures in both shins. After talking to her this past Sunday, she said she was given the option to finish BC  while in RCU. Does anyone have info on what happens, does she have to be FFD before completing tasks, does she still have PIR? I am all for her shaving off time being there even if it means sacrificing PIR! They get so sad, depressed, and pessimistic while in RCU. I just want my bubbly, goofy daughter back. I know they are in good hands there but it seems to suck the life out of them. Any info would be helpful, cause I have searched for the answers everywhere :) Prayers to all the SR's and Sailors out there!

Leora,

Did you ever book a flight for tomorrow? My daughter called on Sunday and said she would be running her mid PFA on Wednesday and her final PFA on Thursday (today) and doing battlestations tonight. I told her I would meet her outside the gate on Friday after PIR. What am I crazy!!!!!! I spoke on impulse, needless to say, I am taking a HUGE risk! I have my flight on hold until midnight tonight (cause she said she was going to try her best to call me either way sometime today.  Im sure she wont be able to but, I will be there, GOSH I hope she will be too!!!! Please say a prayer ladies, lets keep these recruits funneling out of there! I hope you got the call!! Congrats to your future sailor, hopefully they will be watching PIR together!! Andi

Hi...yes I booked the flight sand I will be in Chicago at 11 am today. She finally called me at 11pm and Wednesday night. I was nervous all week! She has liberty til Monday. Did you hear from your daughter yet? I wonder if they know each other! I'm pulling for you and your SR!
Yay!! Congrats, im sure they know each other :) I will arrive at 10am today. I just landed in atlanta. I am only staying until Saturday late afternoon. I wish I could stay till monday :'( she called me yesterday at about 4:45 to say she passed her runs and was doing battlestations last night!!! Thank god cause I was a wreck too!! Lol im glad this journey is almost over. Btw I am sikorski's mom, where is your daughter hoing to a school? Does she know when she ships out? Have a safe trip, maybe we will see each other in gl
I just landed and going to get my rental car. I'm so happy for you and your daughter. I will keep an eye out for you. My SR is Gallamore. Staying in GL for a school
Are you supposed to meet her outside the gate? Im waiting there now, everyone said they may not be out till about 3pm...
Sorry just saw your message. I met her at nex. I got thee at 130 and she was able to leave. I'm picking her up tomorrow at $. It was so good seeing her. It was a long time coming. Hang in there everyone...your SR will make it!

well congrats to both of your and YOUR SAILORS!!!!! HOOYAY.... see, there is light at the end of the tunnel

Yes there is but it isn't easy. Thanks for the congrats. Hoping this phase goes quick for all the other ms out there!

Wow I know what your mean about not being able to get info!  I had no idea the RCU could be so depressing, though:(  That's the last thing my daughter needs.  I am not sure if her stress fractures are in her feet, knees, or both.  I didn't know they could finish basic in there.

My daughter was supposed to graduate November 30th.  She later told me she should be finished at RCU December 21st but I haven't heard anything from her for over two weeks.  I do not know what the timeline is.  She told me she is now a Yeoman.  I think that is a promotion.  I wish I could find out what is going on.  She did sound really positive and determined to finish.  Does anyone know how to get an update on a recruit's progress?

Hey, kayleesmom....I know this is so hard. Many of us here have been where you are and it certainly is not easy. As the recruits start healing, they are given different jobs while they are there. Ours was a Yeoman for a while, but he was also several other things as well. I can't remember now. He was there for so long. Just under 4 months. You just have to wait. It doesn't fair well for the recruit if you start calling and asking questions. It is agony I know, but you have to be patient. She will let you know when something happens. Ours was able to call on Thanksgiving when he was there a year ago and we did not hear from him until Dec 18 when he finished Battle Stations. His letters even stopped during that time. We were getting letters every Thursday until after Thanksgiving. I think he was working so hard to get finished, he didn't have time to write. He was in therapy and also training with a division at that time.

Good luck and we will definitely keep you in our prayers. It will be over soon.

My SR has just been sent to Ship 04 Div 2341 RCU for stress fractures in both legs. I am wondering how do we know what is the procedure. How do we know when we might hear something?  What is the setting there? Are they getting help?
