Vehicle Gate Passes - ...are available for printing up. Remember to enter the Confidential Password from your Form Letter in ALL CAPITALS when prompted. If you have misplaced the Form Letter you may only get this password from your recruit...RTC asks that you keep it confidential. It is PIR specific (not sure, but it may be Division specific as well).

If you use IE and are having trouble...click out of the page that comes up after you click the link for the gate pass. Then try again. This happens to me with the Family Guide...third time is usually the charm! If it really doesn't want to come up...switch to another browser like Firefox or Chrome. (Always make sure Chat is off to make IE run a little better. Chat is down in the bottom right hand corner of the screen...green-on...red-off))

There will be blanks to fill in...this is done by hand after you fill it out.

You may print as many as you like to keep handy!

Congrats...getting closer to seeing your future Sailors!

Gate Passes
by U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 7:01pm ·

Guests who intend to bring their vehicle onto the base for graduation must have a gate pass. Some refer it to a parking pass. Gate pass/parking pass, it's the same thing.

The gate pass is obtained by downloading it from http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp

Starting 11 days prior to your recruit's graduation date, the pass will be available to download. It's normally posted by late morning. You will need a password to download the gate pass and that password is only available through your recruit. Please do not call the Public Affairs Office (PAO) to obtain the password because it will not be given to you. Again, only your recruit may give you the password.

If you do not have a gate pass, you will not be allowed to bring your vehicle onto the base. You will either need to take a taxi or hotel shuttle to the gate and then walk about 100 yards to check in at the visitors center where all guests do the same.

Troubleshooting:

Are you typing the password exactly as your recruit has written it? If so, and you still cannot access the pass, you may call PAO so we confirm you have the correct spelling.

Do you have the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer? If not, a free download is available at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Are you clicking on the correct link for the correct graduation date? This is a common occurrence. If you've been clicking on the second date listed and then the following week when that date is bumped up to the first date listed and you're still clicking on the second date without paying attention, that would be the issue. This is a common error.

Are you using a Macintosh computer? If so, you will need to try a different computer as you are probably getting nothing but a gray screen. Our webmaster is aware of the problem with Mac users unable to download the passes and they are working to resolve the issue.

Why can't you type in the recruit's information? Because you are not supposed to do so. Simply print out the pass and handwrite in the information.

Was your recruit's graduation date set back and your old password doesn't work? Please call the PAO so we may further assist you.

Can you print out more than one gate pass? Absolutely. However, only guests who are listed on the access list may use a gate pass.

To contact the Public Affairs Office, please call 847-688-2405 or e-mail at rtc.pao@navy.mil

Thank you!  I got mine no problem using a Mac.

Great!That's good to know! TY.

We will have a rental car.  On the GATE PASS, it states that "the rental contract will act as the registration".  Does that cover the "proof of insurance" also?

Dang, I can't remember if I brought an insurance card with me. You know, one of those little ones that they give you for your wallet? It's usually always in my wallet. Better safe than sorry. I am pretty sure I bought the extra insurance as well though.

Just last week I had personally sent an email to the PAO, asking what I needed to have with me, besides the gate pass, driver's license, insurance card and car registration, since I am not on the access list for PIR on 10/26/12 but was going to try to attend if extras were allowed.  He said that the items I mentioned was all that was needed.  I printed out the email to take with me.  Maybe, this had changed from the initial RTC FB website info dated in May 10, 2011.   I guess if I can't get in I will just wait for him at the hotel.

Just to clarify and confirm that I am processing this correctly (LOL), you told them you were not on the Access List? And they said that was okay?

They need to update that if that is the case.

Glad you have an email...you Go Girl!

Thanks FTLW,

I had been on so many websites/groups with conflicting info that was one reason I personally sent the email for clarification.  They were very helpful.

Can't wait for PIR!!
