My son left for the Great Lakes yesterday and I did not receive the phone call saying that he got their safely.  Does anyone know who I can call or whether he will be able to call me tonight?  I am a worried mom right now.

Thanks!!

Hi Maria, maybe you should put in your title that you haven't received a call from son.  People may be more apt to check and respond.  Have you heard anything yet?  I bet he's just fine.  Just a glitch.  I would be feeling like you, though.  My son goes next week.

jam

Okay, I will try that.  Thanks Jam and good luck to your son!!

Hi All....

I'm brand new to Navy Moms.  My son leaves for boot camp January 3rd, 2013.  Does anyone know about graduation dates for that class?

Typically, bootcamp is about 8 weeks long. Some are 7 weeks. If you are asking because you are thinking of buying airline tickets, I would suggest you wait until you get the "form" letter from the Navy which will inform you officially the date of graduation for your recruit. You can NOT predict with certainty when graduation (PIR) will be because a lot can happen between now and then:

In the meantime, learn all you can about Boot Camp. Start with the Survival Guide.

The guide will contact links to a lot of pertain information. Watch the videos, look at the info in the RTC's official site.  Be sure your Seaman Recruit joins the NavyDep.com site, a site just for the recruits.

Good luck.

Thank you....I was thinking about the travel dates.  I guess I'll wait and see.  Hard for me...I better get used to it. :)

I'll check out the survival guide.

Thanks again.

You wont know for sure until you receive the form letter after they arrive at bootcamp.   However, it is typically 8 weeks after they leave and they graduate on Fridays.

Hi, Mom to AJ!  I'm new as well and my son leaves on January 3rd!  I'll try to keep up with you and maybe our sons will meet!

My Son also arrived there on Monday Night.  I did get a call but it was 2:30 am.   I hope you have heard from him.

The bootcamp has a website where you can send a message to someone who responds by email.  I would email them and tell them you never heard from him.   And, ask how you can find out if he arrived safely.

Felicia

Oh Felicia, thank you soooo much!  I called his recruiter but he said that he has no way of contacting them.  He said he didn't hear anything so that means he arrived safely.  Just a worried mom.  :)

Thanks again!

Maria

Did he leave to Great Lakes or did he leave to meps? Cause my son left on a Monday but didn't fly to Great Lakes until Tuesday
