Hi! My 2nd son is scheduled to leave for boot camp on 11/6/12. We are learning some of the ropes as my oldest son is at Great Lakes right now, he left on 8/28/12. So not looking forward to reliving all this again, but I think they are making great choices for their lives.

Hi all .....My oldest is leaving Nov.6 as well, and I'm filled with Pride and aniexty.  I"ve been a Navy Wife for 25 of the last 26 years ( we retired last year).  SoI think I know ....but then I realize I really don't, this is my firstborn and he's leaving for his life adventure!!  ahhhh.....

This is my youngest, and first to leave the house. I am so worried about him! We will go to Miami for his swearing in, but he is going to great lakes on the 6th too!

My son is Ryan, we are going to Miami for his swearing in on the 6th. They send Ryan there the day before, then the next morning is the swearing in, and then to the airport. He is 23 but has lived at home, he was in college. We are going to Chicago for the PIR, are you? My son is signing up to be a corpsman. (medic)

My son also leaves on November 6th, so I guess they will be in the same Basic in Great Lakes. I am new at this, he is my youngest, but first to leave my home. I am really scared, he is signing to be a Corpsman.

Yes it sounds like they will be in the same class !  How awesome....maybe you and I can get to know each other and cry on each others shoulders during this time ?   I can't believe he will be gone for Thanksgiving, Christmas and possibly his birthday too :(   We are going with him to Seattle on the 5th for his swearing in and then meet him at the airport the next morning before his flight out ....My name is Amy by the way and my son's name is Cody.  maybe the boys can meet up and have a person they can look for when they get there

Hello, my son also ships to Basic Training on 11/6. I've known this time would eventually come since he was in middle school, but I'm still not entirely ready.

Hi Lori! I only knew at the last minute. In fact he kept it from me almost a whole year, because he knew I am such a worrier, and was hoping he wouldn't sign. Now that he decided though I support his decision, he is 23 and he knows what he wants! I am still going to worry though!!!!!

Hi! I don't think anyone can be totally prepared for their child to leave for boot camp. I thought I would be less emotional and ready for my 2nd son to leave, I am so not ready. I really thought the emotional roller coaster would be easier the 2nd time, but I am finding out how wrong I was.

We say goodbye to our son on November 5th with arrival date November 6th at BC.  Only a few days  away.

same here we say goodbye on the 5th also and she will arive on the 6th

Hello my daughter leaves Nov 6th and she's going to Great Lakes also

I can't believe how fast November 5th is approaching. This is going to be tough with the new recruits being gone over the holidays. My oldest texted last night he may get to visit right before Christmas, I am so looking forward to him being home it just is going to be hard having my 2nd oldest away at boot camp.
