Oh My! Hope Patrick got inland some and is in a nice warm place. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. This is good practice for us for when they are out at sea. My son is just across town and he got a bit irritated with me when i called earlier to tell him there are 50mph winds and to be careful driving home. Keep us posted on how your son is fairing thruout the hurricane. Hope he will not have to go without power. Take care.
Hi Shanes Mom,
My son leaves November 19th( We are from Michigan)I feel the same way all of you do.....We have hardly any info, so this site has been so nice. Thank you all for making me feel like I am not alone in my worries...
xxoo
hi is your son going to be going to BC on an airplane or a bus? I feel like I am more worried about them getting from the MEPS office to Great Lakes than just about anything else. I trust that once the Navy has physical custody of them they should be pretty safe. What job did your son choose? Good Luck and enjoy the next week and a half. We are havin a little farewell for Shane, my husband is a little unsympathetic about that saying "didn't we just give him a graduation party this summer" so we are trying to be low key. Are you giving your son a farewell send off? Is your son your first to leave home? What made him decide on the Navy? How were you with the initial decision? Take care!
How are you doin? I guess we are at the "push him out of the nest" edge now. We had a fun little party last night and I had the baker at Walmart make a cake with an aircraft carrier flight deck and toy airplanes. He was so happy to do it for me with Veterans Day stuff going on at the store. I was so impressed I didn't think a Walmart cake decorator would care. I wrote a little note to the manager to show my appreciation and they called to say "Walmart is proud to serve those who serve" I started to cry and I think I freaked out the poor kid who called. My son said OMG Mom you are so corny ..so I had to nix the idea of temporary tatoo anchors on everybodys forearms...lol. Anyway I will send my kid off tomorrow and I just hope I have done a good enough job that he makes it through BC and becomes a sailor in the United States Navy!
Anchors Away My Friends
I have been so emotion this morning has been nothing but tears. I have to take him to his recruiter inless than two hours, but will be driving up to see him at his hotel later for one last hug before he goes. We had a party last night with family and friends which was an early Thanksgiving and turned out great. This will be his first time away from home and the first time since he was tiny that he has been in airplane. When I told him he had to take his shoes off to pass security he looked at me like I was crazy. I sure hope he finds his gate ok, Atlanta airport can get crazy. I am so proud of our guys and gals who choose to serve our country. My son is amazing and I know he will be fine, but it wont stop me from all the worry's that go along with being a mom. I am already looking foward to seeing him in January.
