Hey all,

So my boyfriend and I are trying to figure out when would be the best time to get married. Right now his is still in bootcamp but his PIR is november 30th. he then goes to Sub school in Connecticut, My question is when would be the right time to get married? My plane is to move with him once he gets stationed but we are not sure if that would mean it would be better to get married while he is in A school or after?? I am very lost in all this because my boyfriend and myself keep gettting all kinds of different information so please if anyone has any clue as to what we should do and the steps we need to take to make it happen PLEASE let me know :)

Thanks!!!!!

LOL No joke, my fiance is in boot camp, graduates the 30th and going to sub school.... Anyways, It takes abit of time to get the paper work done in order to get married, I am hoping to do it when he comes home fro christmas break, but that will only happen if he stays on top of everything!!! I suggest getting married before getting his orders to go to a base. I know if you get married after he gets his orders they will not help you move (they being the navy)

Little Miss Red! omg that is too funny! so do you know he is coming home for Christmas break? my boyfriend said he did not think he would be able to because the first 4 weeks of sub school are supposed to be almost like bootcamp?? and what is the paper work he has to get. like I know he has to request it but is there stuff I need to be filling out with him? sorry if these questions sound stupid I am just so new to all of this. And yeah thats what I thought about the orders so it is for sure better to get married while in sub school I just want to get everything in order so he does not have to stress over it, or at least do the best i can from here! lol

The dates are not for sure and you have to put in a request to leave the school. Because you get 2.5 days a month, they will have 5 days of leave saved up once they hit school. They are allowed to burrow days though, and they make them up later. when you go to school you can immediately get your phone, your laptop, you can get internet if you pay for it. Its like boot camp but not. The only thing you need to worry about it making sure you know your states marriage laws. I live in NC and I have no wait to get the license and to get married. I know Fl has a three day wait, you get the license (you both must be present for it) and three days later you go up and get married. I do know there usually is a fee, so be sure you have the money to do it. As for his paper work each school is different on what you do, Some require a class, some dont. He needs to find out immediately and fill out the paper work and make sure everything is ok to go. A lady told me on here is takes about 2 weeks min for all this to happen

If you have any other questions let me know :)

The biggest worry about marrying after A school and not during is not the getting paid to moving to his duty station part.  It is not being able to move to his duty station because he got overseas orders, where you can't just pick up and move yourself.  Overseas orders are entirely different than stateside orders when it comes to new spouses.  So if you're planning to marry anyway, sooner is better than later.

Thank you for the advice ladies this helped my alot!
