So it's less than a month before my son leaves for BC and because we've never been through this we didn't even know that he needed a calling card. So I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any other important information to fill me in on before he leaves. If so please share!!!!!

I am so glad he made it home safe. Time is going by way to fast, I told Austin to make a menu for next week so I can cook him all his favorites before he leaves.

I have never been to the Chicago area, do you happen to know of any good places to visit while there in January for there graduation? Preferably something indoors so I don't freeze.lol

Awww that's a great idea! Lord knows they'll be eating whatever grub is thrown at them and i heard they have to eat fast. When I went to Chicago it wasn't as cold so we went to the pier, but we won't be able to do that in January! I remember a huge mall in the area, but not sure of anything else indoors. I'm gonna have to search that and if I find anything ill let you know. Today is clean up, take down Halloween, and put up Christmas at our house. Oh what the people driving bye will be thinking! Haha I hope Austin enjoys his yummy meals! Talk to you soon!!
That was the HARDEST thing I've ever had to do! I miss him already!! My son kept his phone so he can be in contact for as long as possible, but then all contact stops. I'll be worried about him having his wisdom teeth pulled the first week and then I know he will start to enjoy the experience. He's been looking forward to this since he's 9 yrs old. He's now 21! Poor kid aggres that it was so hard to say good bye...he didn't think it was going to bother him that much!
Hi Dina,
That's funny! I was tired too and thought the same thing, only difference is we didn't choose this and they did. It doesn't make it better but for me it's a little bit easier to accept. I really feel for them but at least last night they were able to go to bed at either 8:00 or 9:00 and sleep until 4:30 this morning, which would seem like an eternity for someone as sleep deprived as them.

Hi, my son left from Houston, TX on Nov 13. I sent him with $30.00, stamps, calling card, ss card and drivers license. I just received his box today but no phone call as of yet.

My son left on the 13th as well, I received his box Friday and today I got a form with his address and that  he was on ship 14 Div 055.  Graduation date January 11th. I am already counting the days !!  I miss him so much. I hope they are allowed to call for the holidays but I guess there is no way of knowing. Hopefully you will get the form in the next day or so.

Tracy, wow my son and your son left the same day and I haven't received the box yet but I got the letter today. Our sons are in the same ship same division!

Thats great they are in the same ship, I already have his first letter ready to go in the mail. I read that it can take 5 to 10 days for them to receive mail. I hope it doesnt take that long, he might think I forgot to write. lol  One of the last things he said to me before heading for the airport was " dont forget to write"  Technology has had me spoiled, I cant even remember the last time I wrote a letter, but I am looking foward to it, I clipped out some articles about his favorite football teams so he can still keep up to date with his sports.

Clipping articles is a great idea, I didn't think of that. Instead I watched the jet game so I could keep him up to date! What's your sons job? Patrick's a gunners mate. I wonder if they know each other!? I had his letters written, I was waiting for address. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna mail them. I hope they get them quick too, that would be sad if they didn't get mail.
I still haven't received the box yet! I was thinking that he threw everything out but that can't be because he had to send home his cell phone. Hmmm I got the letter though!

when did he left? and i tink  in the box we wil know what div. and ship theyre in, and also the address. thats nice you got a letter, we dont get any letter yet but we did get a call from her.

My daughter did leave Nov. 13 , the recruiters gives her a list of stuff.. did you already recieve the box? keep checking my front door , but somebody told me we need to sign something when we get the box.
