Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

YES YES YES, from Aventura , Miami area, I did not make plan reservations yet since I do not know how many days my son will have with me, and if he will be able to fly back home before leaving to A shcool in Pensacola. I am going by myself, my son's father passed aways almost Ten years ago.Called Sarge $53 for O'hare pick up to the Mariot Motel which has a Shuttel service to camp for $3.00 each way, I would not drive either. Was told by Sarge if we are more passenger the ride will be cheaper. Are you arriving in O'hare?if yes what time? How do you know how many days they will be able to spend with us? please le me know as soon as you may so that I might make a flight arrangements. Are you flying direct or with a stop on the way?
Southwest only flies into Midway Airport in Chicago so No to O'Hare. It is a non-stop flight up from Orlando to Midway leaves Orlando at 7:40 am and arrives at 9:30 (their time). According to Skip Lintner on another group A school in Great Lakes is on standown from 12/21 to 1/6 so no new sailors will be coming into school for that time. I don't know about Pensacola - not all A schools are on Standown. Most sailors who are leaving for A school somewhere other than Great Lakes usually fly out on Sat. So make sure you know how long he will have with you. I also don't know if Pensacola is on standown. Ask that question on the main page and see if anyone knows what is happening at Pensacola.
I emailed Training Command about ADOPT A SAILOR...here is there response....I posted this in the larger group too, just want to make sure every one sees this.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Ma'am,
Training Groups are determined for Adopt A Sailor based on where they are in
their training. Those that are graduating on Dec 28 and Jan 4 will be
eligible for Adopt A Sailor Christmas Day. We supplied each recruit that are
graduating the two days I mentioned with a family request form. They should
be mailing them out this weekend.
Respectfully,

My son is in ship 03 div 039 and i got my 2nd letter from him yesterday... He said in both letters that the division was doing very well.
ship 03 div 039, does any one know if the sailors that go to A school in Pensacola have a standown, I do not understand exctly what it means, but do they go directly on Saturday to Florida,?or might go home first and fly to Pesacola on the 1/6/13?Where do you get this kind of information? I still did not make my fllying reservations since I do not what is going on with my son plans?
According to the form letter those who are not staying in Great Lakes for A school will leave the next day for their school. My son is doing A and C school is Pensacola. If he's going to get time off I sure would like to know.
SHIP 03 DIV 039,Where may you get accurate information on how many days after graduation will they stay in Great Lakes if they will attend A school in Pensacola? I can not make any plans to fly unless I know what is going on with my son after graduation.
At the top of this page is a tab marked "Groups" Click on it and there is a group for Pensacola A school. There is not much on that page but a link to the A school in Pensacola. At the top of that page is a link "Contact Us". There it gives you the Public Affairs Office e-mail address. You should e-mail them directly explaining that your son is at boot camp currently but will PIR on 12/28/12 and what is going to happen on 12/29/12 when he arrives at A school during the holidays. Hope you get an answer (although it may not be today due to a Holiday weekend) but you should know by Monday. Let us know what you find out.
My son is in div 40 and have only received 1 letter. Was hoping to get a phone call yeasterday but nothing.
Got two letters from my son today. Sounded very certain that he would be able to call Thursday or today. Even gave us details on whose cell phone he would try first. So don't give up and stay by your phones. We may hear from some of them yet!!
My son is on Ship 03 Div 40 - we got the "I'm here" phone call, the kid-in-a-box, the form letter, and one letter. Since then, nothing. It's a good thing our mail carrier comes when I'm not here - I'd drive them nuts! As it is, I check at least once a day and usually twice.
I'm still not sure what's going to happen after PIR. He's in the Nuke Tech program, so he'll be leaving Great Lakes to go to A school. We were originally told that he would leave the afternoon of PIR, or the day after, but the conversations I've seen here indicate that might not be the case since it's the holidays. We live in North Carolina, so we really need to know what's going to happen after PIR. Has anyone heard anything about that?
Glad to see someone else gets up early!! At the top of this page is "Groups" tab. Click on it and all the groups come up. Go to "Nuke Moms" . On that page is another group called PIR and they are discussing what happened after graduation with their sons/daughters. I think you should ask the question on that page as they have been through it and should know if their base is on standown like Great Lakes is.
