Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Good mews, receive my first peronal letter from my son yesterday, but what worried me is the fact that he asked me not to make any plans for the 12/28/12 graduation since he is not sure that will be the date, as far as I know the ones that are unable to go throught the drills on the first try are the ones that have their graduation date moved, am I correct?
My son to is also in ship 3 div 40 was disappointed when I didn't get to hear from him on thanksgiving day but did get a letter on Friday.
He did not say anything about graduation date being changed though
I did get a letter, a personal One after 29 days, thanks God!
LOL
Our dogs keep walking back to our son's room and standing at the door like they're waiting for him to come out. They don't seem to notice he's gone that much except on Sunday, when we're all usually home.
Hi to all, I finally received a phone call from my son, he tried my cell and the home # Five times, were on his last try he reached me, thanks God, he sounded great, but still not sure graduating on 12/28/12, he treid t explain me why sonthing to do with the training, any way, I am in a stand by situation, he will go to A achool in Pensacola, wonder if and how many days he will be able to stay home?
My son is on ship 03 div 40 and I finally got a phone call yesterday afternoon for about 30 minutes it was so good to hear his voice. He said he was doing good. And said we could fly out early and we would get to spend Christmas day with him.
Hello everyone! I just got signed in yesterday to this group and also received my first phone call yesterday. So I got a lot of information in a short period of time and I am so grateful. I asked him if they were treating him well and his words were "well mom, it is boot camp you know". Glad to see he hasn't lost his sense of humor:) He did say that boot camp was about what he expected He said that his group has struggled a bit but seem to be settling down now to the routine and he hopes that things will go better...hopefully extra phone calls! It was so good to hear his voice. He said that the letter went out the day before yesterday for christmas adoption and that he thinks it is from 9 am or so to 7pm. So now I am trying out to combine all of our traditions from christmas eve and christmas night into one day. It gives me something to count on and plan on and that in and of itself is an activity I will enjoy working out!! He also said they made no mention of the election results, and no mention of veterans day or thanksgiving day. I guess its probably better they didn't remind the recruits what they were missing but I was a bit surprised they didn't tell them who their commander in chief would be. Also, I asked if their recruit coordinators left at night to be with their families and he said yes...so I guess that explains how a stomach virus made its way into the group 4 weeks into the program! I guess about half of them are not feeling their best right now so my prayers go to a speedy recovery for all of them.
My son is Ship 3 Div 039, Both A and C school in Pensacola to be an AT or AE
Finally got a letter last week but missed the phone call Monday! I was devastated! My ringer was off at work (I teach). He called his dad and said boot camp wasn't bad at all. He told him we could come up for Christmas but financially neither of us can swing that and that breaks my heart. Especialy seeing on here that there are parents who are going up at Chirstmas. His birthday is next Friday. Very sad mom. But proud of him as well.
I'm still going to see if I can't work out getting up there, if my daughter will go. If not I'll miss Christmas with one to have it with the other...
Found out getting chosen for Ship's Staff is a good thing. So that's good. Hope to get another letter soon!
Question: My son is on ship 03, division 040, but the letter we got from him indicated it was the USS Hopper, not the USS Arleigh Burke - which is correct?
Also, does anyone know if there are challenge coins for this ship?
