Hi guys, I'm new here. My boyfriend of three years (and hopefully fiance soon) left for basic on Nov. 19 and so far I've been writing him a letter every night. A few questions that maybe some of you more experienced ladies can answer for me: How long will it be before I get his address so I can mail all my letters? When will he be able to start writing to me? And, is there anything off-limits that I shouldn't write in my letters? I want to be really mushy and romantic but I don't want him to get made fun of or anything. I have no idea how this works and I'm freaking out a little. Thanks in advance for your help!

LoL that is a good idea! I was going to keep my Sailor updated on the Sunday comics because he used to read them all the time. I haven't yet because I was afraid of him getting in trouble, but tomorrow I will go ahead and send him one or two.

yeah, just wrap it up in the letter! :) he'll appreciate it so much. it's the little things that link them to home that matter so much.

That is good advice. I will do that! He would really appreciate it, I'm sure. I am trying to think of what else he might like to keep updated on. He told me to draw him pictures, so I do that. I can't think of much else. A girl in the PIR group I am in told us that she sends her BF the scripts from The Walking Dead. Does anyone have any other good letter ideas?

I wouldnt image him getting in trouble for a thicker envelope. My husband typically got some pretty thick ones and he never said anything. And yeah send him some sports news :)

That is good to know. Do you know if they get in trouble for those big yellow envelopes? I sent a bunch of letters in smaller envelopes in one of those big envelopes when I first got his address.

I doubt he would get in trouble majorly.. maybe have to do some push ups and open the enveolpe in front of the RDCs, which could be embarassing, and put him on their radar a little but nothing that will cause issues really. Just give him a hard time I would imagine. I know most of the times they have bigger fish to fry. lol like one guy in my husdands division, his mom sent him brownies... that was a bad idea. lol but I figure he will be ok.

YAYY!! Although you might want to take down that he stayed up reading them all night. They arent supposed to, they are supposed to go to sleep so you dont want the RDCs to read it! But I am soooo happy he got his letters!

haha yeah My husband said the kid was crying, doing pushups and the RDCs were eating his brownies watching him. lol but yeah they arent allowed stuff like that for sure! lol

Poor Kid! I would be so embarrased! I hope they didn't make too much fun of him. LoL Still kind of funny though. :p

He got my letters! I wrote the format of the name wrong, and put them in a huge envelope, but he got them!!! :):):):) He told me that for the first time at boot camp, he fell asleep smiling! I am so happy! He didn't say anything about getting in trouble, but I don't think he would mention if he did. He just wants me to know how much he appreciates the letters I am sending! I feel soooo special! I want to cry because I'm so happy right now! :)

That thing about the SR's Mom sending him brownies cracks me up! I'm so glad we have this site to refer to, so we don't make the same mistakes. In other words, I might have sent some backed goods if I never had this website to refer to. :p

He got my letters too :-) just the beginning of them though because he wrote it on the 20th. He has no idea he has lots more coming. I started writing him a month before he left lol. I'm happy neither of them said anything about getting in trouble. He said he has my pictures too and loves them. It makes me so happy to know he's alright! I'm glad we have this site too. When I was in Army boot camp the drill sergeants would take and eat anything we weren't allowed to have food wise lol. The rest they left til after graduation. I made sure my family knew not to send anything. Glad u heard from your man! :-) One day closer to seeing them!

Yay! I am sooo happy! I am glad your Sailor got his letters too! :) LoL I started to write my BF the day he left for the airport. I met him there to tell him good bye. My mind was in such a scramble; I forgot to check where I was parking. It took me over 40 minutes to find my car when I left. I ended up writing him that day. I told him how much it meant to me when he told me good bye, and of course, that I lost my car. xD I figured he would laugh at it. :p

Haha that is something I would do. The longest I lost my car was 2 hours. Yes! 2 hours! Long story, but hilarious. He thinks it's adorable when I lose my head lol I think I'm crazy. These letters are what is keeping me going so I am so happy to get them. It's like the holy grail!
