For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Everything ive seen as said that it is a formal graduation ceremony, i bought a black lacey dress to wear with stockings and tall boots. Definitely dress in layers and dress as warm as possible.

Dress nicely. This is a really awesome ceremony not to mention the first time in 9 weeks you will be seeing your now Sailor! But yes, it may be cold so dress in layers.

You will see people there dressed anywhere from casual (jeans) to very dressy. Unless you are way over the top casual (like ripped jeans and tank top, and pj bottoms sort of thing) they will let you in, because they understand that for most people, this is their first (and sometimes only) experience with Navy ceremonies, so they just don't know better.
However, something that the Navy tells spouses is that a good rule of thumb to follow for military ceremonies is this -- "Dress to the uniform". In other words, you can always tell how formal the event is by how dressy they are in their uniforms. So, NWU would be a jeans and t sh. irt thing. Their black and tan's are like business casual, and their dress uniforms, depending on the time of day and event, are anything from dressy church clothes to formal gowns.
They're graduating in their dress uniforms, so a dressy church outfit sort of thing is appropriate. YES, you will probably be dressed nicer than a lot of the people there, but YOU won't be OVER dressed, THEY will be UNDER dressed. -

I wore a nice sweater dress, with some leggings and some boots. It is dressier for sure. but like sailorwifenmom said there will be people underdressed... at the one I went to there was just a record breaking blizzard and I swear some girls looked like they were well prostitutes to put it nicely. Even the sailors were snickering at their outfits. You also have to walk a ways to wait for your sailor so if you dont do well in heels you might think about that. lol I wore flats bc I didnt know how far that was. Its not horrible though. I also had a big peacoat which I used to sit on. Otherwise my butt would have fallen off! lol jk but the bleachers are hard and cold inside the place too until it starts filling up.

I'm wearing a pink sweater dress to my fiance's PIR this Wednesday, with black boots and nylons! I agree with the other ladies - better to be over dressed than under dressed! We are representing our SAILORS, after all :)

I still have no clue what im wearing to my fiance's PIR! Im sure he'll love me in whatever but I really want to look noce for him, especially since we have always been a "T-Shirt and Jeans" kind of couple. Oh the changes we make for love lol!

Remember that you may be waiting in line outside for a while! I wore dark skinny jeans with a fitted red sweater and black heels and I didn't feel like I stuck out either way. I would say definitely don't look sloppy but if you want to dress warmly and comfortably go for it! I was really happy I decided not to wear a dress and freeze the whole time. My outfit would have been just as cute with a pair of black flats, but my heels are actually pretty comfortable. Depending on where you sit you may have to walk across the drill hall in front of everyone to get to your seat, so only wear heels if you can walk in them, lol!

I attached a few pics of what I used to give me ideas of what to wear. I'm putting my own little twist for comfort and to wear what I know he likes. Search "cute winter outfit" on google and go to the images tab and there are lots of good ideas! Hope that helps.
