It has been confirmed that Sailors who will be students at the TSC do need to get a “deviation chit” in order to visit at the Gateway Inn and Suites, which they can obtain when they check in at the TSC.

The Marriott Courtyard on Northpoint Blvd. in Waukegan is only two blocks away from Sarge's meet and greet.  The hotel gave me the Navy rate on Wednesday when I asked for it. The indoor pool and spa is the feature that drew us there. Denny's is next door as is a restaurant with Greek food.

I reading all these comments and just decided to re-confirm hortel staying at the ramada booked weeks ago and prices have gone up now?!! of course but i hope its nicer than  what he sounded like over the phone! Like if i was bothering them over the phone.... hope i didnt ruin his snack.... not nice,

Pattieo, we just had PIR yesterday and stayed at the Ramada for Thursday night. The staff was very friendly and nice but the facilities were outdated. The price to me was just too high for the accomodations quality. Plus I strongly recommended you go to Sarge's meet and greet for PIR day information. We went to the meet and greet at the Ramada and although it was great meeting other Navy For Mom members, they only had a short handout (one page) with FAQ for information about PIR. Unfortunately, the FAQ's page was information I already had received from being on the PIR forum.

Hello everyone and Congratulations to all your Sailors!! We just got home from our PIR 11/16.. It was wonderful, we stayed at the Navy Lodge and we had a suite. Their suites ($95.00) are new and all 6 of us were able to stay together with plenty of room and a kitchenette (when you call 847-689-1485 you need to press zero, because only this Navy Lodge has suites and you need to talk to their front desk). Have a wonderful time!!! HOOYAH!

I agree the only way to go I was there 11/30 stayed in a suit best place ever! My sailor said it was like staying at a resort!! lol it only took 6 or 7 mins to get to the base!

My son did his PIR on 10/21/11 - seems like it was yesterday!   It was beautiful and exciting and we were so proud of him and all his shipmates!

We stayed at the Navy Lodge and it was very nice.  It was $65 a night and was clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful.  Bag lunches/breakfasts were available at the front desk , which were handy on the Saturday AM on our way into Chicago.  I just called the reservation # and gave my sailor's name and PIR date and info and we made the reservation. Oh, I see the # is in the posting above mine!    I don't have the # handy but it would be in the pamphlet from MWR that was sent with your PIR form letter and also probably at the webpage for all things regarding bootcamp and PIR.

Hope this helps!

Springhill Suites & Residence, both nbrs were idencein correct. I called the Residence at $145.00 a night was more than my flight combined. I maybe flying alone and want to be close to the base, but can't afford that much a night.

I reviewed both Navy site and other web reviews on the Ramada. While it's is not the Hilton hotel, I didn't see any major problems. The staff was friendly and there was a shuttle. The shutlle was a big plus for me.

I will be a solo traveler and nothing really alarmed me. As most hotels there are good and bad reviews. The BIG NO was the Motel 8. So for right now, I am still googling.

We just got home from PIR. wow what an experience! As for places to stay I booked Ramada online with early checkin late check out,( neither notation was made) I wanted a comfortable safe hotel.. I asked for too much here.. room was small, smelled of sour carpet, tv didnt work well, beds were comfortable, was woke up alot due to pipe noises anytime a toilet was flushed a whine sound, also hotel as a "low income" apt complex behind it.. had "traffic" in & out all night using pool & hot tub hollaring down the hall (back door unlocked) called front desk.. didnt help.. also guess its okay to smoke weed here as hall reeked of it. when I listed my complaints..i was asked if I wanted to check out. I will be contacting hotels.com, ramada corp., and local police monday am. I felt unsafe, unwanted after I paid. stay away! As for transportation, we used Sarge all weekend.. perfect in everyway. Wonderful dependable man who works his tail off.

Watch out for Residence Inn,  if you have a debit card, they run it a couple of times,, I had 8 charges within 2 days of staying there.. had to cancel my card and pay cash!!  the place was nice, but  watch these guys!!!  and they don't have complimentary PIR shuttle,, I was charged 6.00 one way!!! rip off!!!   should of be 3.00 on way per Sarge!!!

Sarge Taxi Service is a life saver!!!  They even pick up at the airport and hand Sailor discount cards,,,
