OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ship 03 (USS Hopper) Divisions 039 and 040 (Brother Divisions)
Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

We sent my son stamps, band-aids, and calling cards. In his last letter he mentioned that the other recruits thought that the band-aids taped to the bottom of the letter we'd sent him were hilarious (but hey, they used them!), so I'm sure he would have said something if anything had been confiscated.
We were careful to just send what we could tape across the bottom of the page to avoid making the envelope too thick and drawing unwanted attention. The only issue I can see with sending a large envelope like you mentioned is that they might make him open it in front of the RDC. But if there's nothing in there to cause a problem I would think that would be the end of it.

cool, I'm glad they are able to keep the band-aids. I also taped them :)
As for the envelope, It wasn't too thick...LOL I folded and ironed it so well that it was the same thickness of a two page letter.

A friend posted this picture on her Facebook page, and it kind of just hit me: THIS is what Boot Camp is. Taking all these individuals - each one with their own quirks, habits, preferences, instincts, and abilities - and transforming them into a UNIT. A working group that can act as ONE to get the job done. That's not easy, and it's not quick!

I NEED YOUR HELP, My plane arrives on Christmas day at 12 noon. I just found out, that I had to pick up my son between 8 AM and 9 AM. Can someone adopt him for me until I get in.

Ship 03 div039 Hi to all, it seems to become a routine, since they can only writ to us on Sunday I'm receiving a letter now for the Theird time in Wedensday, In the last one he writes that he passed the test which is a special one for the one that will continue to A school in Pensacola, and that starting next week things will be easier, and that he will be able to spend only an afternoon with me the the day of the graduation since he will be shiped out the next day, too short of a visit, but I thank God for the small blessings, I didn't purchase the plan ticket yet, I want to make sure that the 12/28/12 is the day, asked him to call to confirm, hope it will happen soon.

I have received a letter also on Thursday that was written Sunday Dec. 2. My son is Div 039. He said Hell Week is this week and he has test 2, a PFA and 3 inspections. After this week it speeds up and he says "Oh my Lord, I can't wait to graduate!" He said he was going to be studying really hard Sunday night. Yes, they had Marlin Spike on Monday. He said this week (just passed) they had 9mm live fire and next week they start firefighting and the gas chamber. He still said that he hopes to call Sat. (today). How many in this group are going to Sarge's Meet and Greet? I haven't signed up yet but was wanting to know which Meet and Greet most of you are going to attend. I'm on the Facebook PIR 12-28-12 page also but they are a much larger group I would rather meet Div 039/040. I am flying up on Thursday into Midway and staying at the Navy Lodge until Sat. and then headed back down to a hotel near Midway airport with my SR and we fly out on Sunday am early. I am going to confirm with him today if I talk to him that he cannot leave until 4:00 pm on Sat. I am the only one from my family coming up.

My son is a CTT and is also going to Pensacola for A school, first to NAS Pensacola for an electronics school and then to Corry station (a few miles away) for his CTT training. Our family will be at Sarge's meet and greet. We are driving up on Christmas Eve and staying through Saturday at Navy Lodge.

Another phone call!!! It is so good to hear Zach's voice! He sounds so positive and confident. Anyone else notice the change in their SR? One more day, on Monday, of Hell Week. He said it will be tough for Div 039 because they're not so strong on drills, but will be practicing this weekend. Another funny thing he said, was that a lot of them are wanting to do the gas chamber soon. I thought because they just want to get it over with, but he said its because a lot of them have upper respiratory colds and are stuffed up. They will be all cleared out in the gas chamber...that's for sure!! They are also supposed to be really busy from here on out. I guess more so than they've been. Oh, they had their pictures taken yesterday. He said it was cold & rainy out. Something about them wearing their blueberries, which i assume are their blue camo. I'm just trying to write things that apply to everyone here. I do appreciate hearing what you're SR's write & tell you. Zach is not a writer, so the info I get from him is via questionnaire or phone call. Thank you all for the details you write, it warms my heart!

I agree the phone call are wonderful, my SR isn't much of a writer too, and I was prepared not to talk to him at all while he was in BC.

My son is Ship 3 Div 039 with A and C school for AT or AE in Pensacola. I'm so confused!
What is the adopt-a-sailor program? We can't up fly for Christmas and I want to know what that means he'll do that day.
I missed the one phone call I've gotten and haven't been able to ask him about that or if he gets liberty after graduation until Jan.6 like I've seen some say on this site. I don't think he got my letters asking about that before he wrote me for this week.If he gets liberty after PIR do we need to fly him home and then to Pensacola by the 6th or will the Navy pay for that? I wish I knew if he was getting it so we can work out the flights ASAP.
I'm still devastated I missed the one call (after the initial 'I made it there safely" phone call).

Thank you! I hope he's adopted by a family. I'm so sad I can fly up to be with him at Christmas.
I thought I saw where people were taking their recruits home after graduation. Hopefully I'll know more from his next letter.
