While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Hi, ship 03 div 039, from my undesranding ,in his last letter my son told me that he will have only a few hours with me after graduation, and will be flwon to A school in Pensacola next day, as for the vecation ,I am almost sure we will have to pay for it. My son metion a sepcial physical for people on ceratin jobs, he passed it! did not purcahse my plan tickes yet, I want to make sure that he goes through this week battle staion 12 houres drill, from 8PM to 8Am, this informaetion I retrived form the RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND , I will be flying by myself but still do not know what time will arrive, therefor I do not know if will make it to the Sarge's Meet and Greet.but will post my plans as soon as I have them..I pray he will make it,( had a very bad dream last night, he gave up and came home before graduating...)After this week my son claims it will be easier.

Ship 03 Div 039 A and C school Pensacola for AT or AE
I hope the letter this week will explain about coming home for vacation and if he gets vacation-if it's not until Pensacola at least that's close enough drive since we live in South Carolina. May fly him home so he can drive his car to Pensacola. 8 hr drive-not horrible.
My sister want to fly up Christmas Eve but we haven't been able to talk to him to and she doesn't want to book the flight if she won't know how to get in touch with him Christmas Day. I really hope he calls soon.

Did he send you the adopt-a-sailor form? That has to be filled out and sent in by 17th of Dec. in order for him to be able to spend the day with family.

He did not :( . He probably felt a little weird about goingwith people he doesn't know. I'm surprised that since he's 19 (turned 19 on Pearl Harbor Day!) he'd have to get parent permission. He may have been hoping someone would be able to fly up. I get more and more sad the closer to Christmas. Can't wait to see him at PIR!

He will have to go to Pensacola first to check in and then he would have to request the time off. My son is in the same situation. He is planning to wait until later in the year to take time off to come home. Don't know how much time would be left by the time he got all checked in down there and then doesn't know how much time it takes to request leave and have it ok'd.

My son graduates from boot camp 12/28/12. From there he will be going to Charleston for nuke school. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure whether they will get leave after graduation until the start of school and what those dates are.

Thanks for responding to my post, HawkeyeMom. I'm glad that someone else has heard they get leave after graduation. I didn't want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed when he couldn't leave. I'm hoping someone will adopt my son, as well. I hate the thought of him not being with family for Christmas, but we just can't afford to go at that time since we'll be there just a few days later for his graduation.

Everything I have heard and read from other posts on the main site here is that if they have school other than there in great lakes, they have to go to that school first, check in, request leave and get it ok'd before they can take any leave.

I just wish we would get some definitive answers. It's hard to make travel arrangements and hotel reservations when everything is so up in the air.
