For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Ty'smom...I know what you mean. Have you mailed any letters off yet? When we got the address I was so concerned about the "m" in 091m..I was thinking that meant medical or something. Dillon's recruiter said the "m" signified it was an all male division.

DNmom, no I haven't written any letters yet. I have been told to wait until the letter comes because he could be moved. I hope to get the letter next week I want him to get mail soon and often. I did get Tyler's box it was a mess they didn't make him fold the clothes. Lol

No, they drop the clothes and other belongings in as quickly as possible, so they are never very neat.

The m is interesting info, but is not needed when you address letters. Yes, the recruiter is correct, it indicates that Division 091 is an all male division. The brother division 092, is also all male since they use 2 compartments for the 2 divisions and there is seldom an all female division (Division 317, which was sponsored by the W.A.V.E.S. was one, the only one in recent history).

I got my SR's adress from his recriuter today. I believe he's in the same ship/div. lemonelephant can you please help? I read in an earlier post about the address that the recriuters give and how to translate it but I can't find the earlier post. Could you please reiterate for me? PIR is 2/8/13

The following is from the Page, Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit:
When recruiters actually do have the correct information, they sometimes give extra information that you do not need in the address, although some of it is interesting or nice to know. "Ship 11 USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) 7114 Compartment F-01; Division R2011124M" is an actual address received from a recruiter by a mom on the site in 2011. The important info in there was Ship 11 Division 124. The recruit was on Ship 11, which is the USS Kearsarge (whose Naval Vessel Index number is LHD-3), Building 7114, Compartment F-01, Division 124 (a Male division that would have PIR in the Navy fiscal year 2011; I don't know what the "R" refers to.) An "I" after the Division number indicates it is an integrated division and includes both males and females. An "F" behind it would indicate that is an all female division--rare but Division 317 in 2012 was an all female division. Compartment numbers are a letter followed by a 2-digit number, A-01 and F-01 for example.

If the above does not help, write the address (do not include your SR's name) that the recruiter gave you and I can help decode it for you. You will be receiving the form letter soon. Please wait on the form letter before sending any letters.

Join the group, PIR 02/08/2013 (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Know that Divisions 091 and 092 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.
