Does anyone else have a SR in Ship 2 Div 913?

Hi Misty, yes I do so happy to find someone else. He is going to be a hospital corpsman. I haven't received the letter yet but the recruiter told me graduation is on Feb 8th. I was going to wait to book the flight but thought i should wait until I get the letter. Where are you from? Where will your son go from Great Lakes?
I haven't received the letter, but the recruiter told me the same date for PIR. We are waiting to get official word to book our flight. We are from West Virginia. Where are you? He goes to Texas after graduation. He is going MA(Master at Arms) Where will your son go? Great to find you! So proud of our young men.
I know you may have seen the info, but make sure you book refundable. In case he gets bumped to another date for what ever reason.
I was looking at flight from CA and the best refundable roundtrip for 3 was $3100.00, I checked Virgin Airlines and they had the same roundtrip (non-stop) for $722.00 for all 3 of us. There was a $100 change/cancellation fee but for the savings I could change 3 times and still pay 1/2 the other airlines.
Some airlines, such as Southwest, allow you to change flights without a charge. You get a voucher that you must use or give (sell) to someone else within a year of the originally scheduled flight, so you do not have to buy refundable tickets.
he is going to San Antonio. He wanted to be an MA and seriously considering Seals but once he got to MEPS to sign up they discovered he was color blind and couldn't do either of those so Corpsman it is. I think it's perfect fit for him. We are in Central California. My husband, daughter and I plan to fly out for PIR and I'm counting the Fridays down, can't wait! He's 19 and just graduated last June from High School so he had never been away for more then 4 days before this. I miss him so much, but he was so happy to do this and really wanted to make a difference in the world that it makes it easier for me to except. Yes, very proud of these SRs.
There are a few more of us with 2/8/13 PIR's in our sights :) My son also is a HM rate. I just got my letter today. If your son is in 913, he may be a part of the parades and/or musician??? Not sure, but I understood the 900's were the ones they use for parades etc. Have marching band and instrument backgrounds if I heard right. We are from ohio and I understand SA TX is where he will go too. My son is 19 also.

I forgot that the 900s is for parades/musicians, which confuses me. My son is not musical, hmmm. I guess I have another question for him. I have a notebook i keep with me and just fill it with the random questions that come to me or things that pop into my head that I would tell him if her were here.
