Hello Everyone! I have questions about A school. My BF is going to be going to A school in Port Hueneme, California. If you have any information on the A school there, or if you have a significant other/ fiance/husband in that A school, could you please give me some advice for when I go visit my BF. I would really appreciate your help! Also, If you have a Loved one at ANY A school, please post any advice that you might find helpful for me and all of the other girls who are planning A school Visits. Thank You!

I am making flight plans for the first or second week of March. My BF should be starting A school in around the second week January. His PIR will be 01/04/2013 so he will arrive at school on the 7th of January.

These are my official questions:

First off, are there any helpful pages on A school information?

Did anyone go see their loved one while they were on phase 1, and what was that like?

I was wondering how long does it usually take for them to get on phase 2 and phase 3?

I am trying to plan my trip up there so he will for sure be on phase 2 at least, but I am hoping for phase 3 of course.

What were your experiences on going to see your loved one in A school?

Can you guys give me any advice on setbacks or positive information about going to see your loved ones in A school?

Please give me any advice or input you have on A School Visits. I will greatly appreciate anything you have to offer on this topic. :)

how will they earn a phase if they are not in school yet? Sorry I'm new to all this and its a bit confusing! haha

Even while waiting, they are still attached to the school command.

earning phases has nothing to do with being in class. Classing up is based on when they decide to start them based on different factors. Phases are earned usually through completing qualls, time there, standing watches, etc.

My fiance had just made phase two (it took him less than two weeks but his school was only 4-5 weeks) when I went to visit him, and he filled out a couple different chits so he could stay off base all weekend long with me. :) It was so nice to have to deal with the curfew! He was in Great Lakes for school, so I'm not sure if every A school does that. The only thing is, I'm not sure if he would gotten them approved if his parents hadn't been visiting as well. His mom checked him out Friday and checked him back in on Sunday because he didn't think they wouldn't let me be his liberty buddy.

They got rid of this rule at Great Lakes the week after we visited, but we had to have a special pass for our car. We had gotten one for graduation weekend but didn't realize he would have to get us another one for the visit weeks later... he ended up walking to the gate, walking us back to his ship to sign him out, and then walking us back out because they wouldn't let us drive on. We ended up getting a pass though when we checked him out so we didn't have to do that on Sunday after we dropped him off. Every base is different, so be prepared. He needs to find out if you need one.

Have fun!!

Good to know. Thanks for all of the advice everyone! This information is really helpful. Keep posting! Your comments are really helpful, and I am sure other girls appreciate them as well!
