Hi All,

This is my first time on here. My husband recommended I start a profile before he left. He left for Boot Camp on Dec 5, 2012. His PIR is Feb 1, 2013.

I got a letter a couple weeks ago. First it was the typical Form letter they send. Then it was a handwritten letter from him. I sent him about 8 envelopes with letters I had written but had been waiting for his address. I put them in plain white envelopes and sent them off. I used the exact address that was on the 2 letters I got from him. I got a letter from him yesterday and spent last night crying. He hasn't gotten any of my letters and is wondering why I haven't written him. But I have. I have sent many many letters. I don't understand why he isn't getting them. I'm frustrated because I can't imagine him being there, going thru all he is going thru and all he thinks he is getting from me is silence.

We have been together for 16 years (since high school). He decided at 34 to join the Navy and lost 95 lbs to do it. I support him and stand by him but I miss him so much. I'm being strong for him and I and have done great up to this point but the fact that he isn't getting mail and thinks that I'm not writing him is killing me.

Has anyone else had problems with mail at boot camp? Any suggestions?

Hang in there! If he hasn't already received the letters, I am sure he will get them soon. One thing I read on this site that I think is a good idea, is to number your letters. Maybe on the left lower portion of the envelope as well as on the letter itself. I think the original intent was so your SR will know which letter to read first but This may give you piece of mind knowing no matter which letter he receives first...he will know that more are out there and to be expecting them.

It is common for the recruit to say that they have not gotten mail in that first letter.  Don't worry; your letters and his probably crossed in the mail.

I see you have joined the group for his PIR date; you may also want to join, or at least check out, NAVY WIVES ON N4M, Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of SailorsBoot Camp Moms (we welcome everyone), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

kellynavywife, I see from another post of yours that your husband is in Division 091, so join the group, PIR 02/08/2013 TG 13 - 14 Divisions (089-100, 806 and 913) (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 091 and 092 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There is a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

Be sure to join the groups mentioned above for they will have a lot of great information and support for you.

I'm sure that he will have received your letters before he writes again.

My son has the same PIR date he is div 806, I have not gotten any letters yet. Praying for one this next week. He left on 12/12/12

Hi All ~ Got home Saturday to a letter from my husband. After breakfast on Christmas morning, he came back to his bunk to find 7 of my letters!!! Yay. Finally he got mail.

He seems to be doing good and holding in there. He is by far the oldest in his division but the younger guys are helping him and pushing him. It warms my heart. :)

That is great to know!  I'm glad for both of you.
