While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

January Adoption USS Gonzalez
Our adoption this month is the USS Gonzalez a guided missile destroyer. The ship is named for Sgt. Alfredo Cantu Gonzalez a Medal of Honor recipient in the Vietnam War. The Gonzalez is a small ship with a crew of 270 ( 180 males and 90 females ).
My POC has informed me that because of their mission they will not see many port visits. Supplies are only replenished once a month and the ship store is very tiny. Also because of the way in which they receive shipments boxes may take a beating. so we need to use plenty of tape and bag items that could be damaged if they were to get wet.
The ship's chaplain has requested greeting cards that the sailors can send home to Moms, Dads, Wives and kids. They really need Birthday cards for kids of all ages. Cards of all sorts are helpful. In addition the Chaplain has also asked for childrens books. The ship runs a program called United through Reading that allows sailors to record videos of them reading books to be sent home. Childrens books for all ages are needed.
Their wish list consist of the following
dried fruit
granola bars
energy bars
water flavor packs
coffee!!!!!!!!!!
any and all snacks
candy and gum
chips of all kinds
beef jerky
microwavable meals/soups/mac&cheese/popcorn
cookies/brownies
magazines/puzzle books
any toilertries
Pillow cases are ok
My POC would like to have Mardi Gras decorations!!!
So come on Navy Moms lets give them a MARDI GRAS PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking mask and beads and whatever our Navy Moms minds can come up with!!!!!!

I will send a box. Bought some cards at Michael's yesterday in the clearance section for $0.25 each along with some cute little note pads with the pens attached that I will save for a later date. I have some puzzle books too. Will look thru my stash to see what else I have.

Hi Pam, count me in!
I don't have my act together enough to give you specifics on what the box contents will be because I still have to go shopping.
However, I still have HUNDREDS of the single serve,Coffee-mate powdered coffee creamer. I will absolutely send several hundred to the ship!

I found some mardi gras beads I got when I was in Rome several years ago with my son's high school band over new years...knew they would come in handy some day!
Have lots of totally blank cards and lots of "themed" cards I can send. Not sure what else I will send...but my friend who loves to donate expressed an interest, so I'm sure it will be more than 1 box, plus pillowcases I have already committed for!

This will be first time participating....Went to the post office, picked up my boxes, shipping labels, and custom forms.Out to shop this weekend and clean out the kids bookcase. Any pointers from the veterans here would be great. ps. my sailor says that Molly's Adopt a Sailor is AWESOME!

I have some applesauce and jello cups that I can send also along with some PB crackers. So far it is two boxes but that is subject to change! haha
