Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 914 and 915.

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Thanks for the info, everyone.  It's good to know everything is well with the group.  I'm hoping mine hasn't gotten in trouble.

He was probably one of the last to arrive, so maybe he will be one of the last to get to call.

I wish I were going to PIR.  I started planning the trip the day he signed up months and months ago, but something came up and now I can't make it. I am very sad about it.

My son will be in Great Lakes for A-school, too, so we are hoping to visit him fairly soon after graduation.  Do you know anything about what sort of leave they get, Katie (SHIP 02 DIV 915)?

Hi sally ship,

I know if they are staying in Great Lakes for A-school, they get "Liberty Weekend."

Friday after PIR they will go "check in" at the A-school. This could take up to 5 hours!! They are then allowed to be with family until between 8 and 9PM.

Saturday, they get leave from approximately 6AM to 9PM.

Sunday, same hours. Your SR (then an Sailor!) will be able to call you and go off base and go to the mall and whatnot. Maybe he can even borrow a computer so you two can Skype? Let me know if we can do anything for your SR that weekend :) I'd be happy to help out.

During Liberty Weekend, they cannot under any circumstances NOT wear their uniform. Which means they have to act like a proper sailor in public! And they CANNOT be late for curfew. They also may NOT travel outside of 50 miles of base.

And that's pretty much it!

Thanks, Katie, and thank you for your offer for help on liberty weekend!  That is very kind of you. I believe his father will be there to help him celebrate, so I think he will be fine.

We hope to go up to Great Lakes while he is in A school, so I am wondering about the liberty then.  I would like to go soon after PIR, but maybe it would be better to wait a little.  Do you know if they have liberty most weekends in A School?

I know we will be able to communicate then, but I have to request leave at my place of employment well in advance.

You mentioned computers - should I ask his father to bring up his computer, or would it be better to wait and ship it later?

Thanks a million to all of you experts for your help.

Hi All, I have a son in Ship 2  DIV 915

Right on! My husband is in Ship 02 Div 915.

Have you heard anything yet?

Hi Pattimac

Stevensmom - thanks for the update that all is with with ship02/div915

I got TWO letters on Friday from my daughter (Ship02/Div915) She said everything is great! She hated the peanut butter shot, she is Yeoman! She says one of the RDCs (I wont mention names) is SUPER nice... and another is "the rudest person in the world. He says the F word about 500 times a day!" - she seems to be having fun and asked for pics.. so I think our SRs are feeling homesick.

Thanks for the update! I haven't heard anything from my husband. I sent lots of pictures though!

Did anyone in 914 get a phone call this weekend?  We were waiting for one - nothing - sigh . . .

not yet Jen :(

Still no call or letter here, either.

My son is Ship 02, Div 914.  He has sent his wife one letter that was a paragraph long, but said things are good.  She has received 3 phone calls now, but only to ask for information that we are having trouble getting to them.  No actual personal calls.
