Does anyone know if there are shuttle services available at the Amtrak station in Chicago to the Hotels? If any hotels offer this, it may be a factor in my staying there.  I understand Sarge also has shuttle services, but to the train station?  I will be traveling alone and don't want to have to rent a car on top of all the other expenses so any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

Jackie. Sarge will take you anywhere you want to go for a fair price. Look him up on this site. His user name is Old sarge. His number is listed. You can text him and ask any question about where to stay how to get around prices etc. he's willing to help however he can.

Thanks Sarge - I finally figured it out.  I thought the Milwaukee Line was a part of the Amtrak.  I learned, Chicago public transit. Forgive this Southerners simplicity, I forget about those things!

What would be fastest, taking the Metra to Libertyville or Waukegan? I'm staying at the Navy Lodge on base

Take the Union Pacific Line North and get off at the Great Lakes Stop

I'm staying at the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel in downtown Chicago for the March 15, 2013 graduation.  I intend on taking a 5:30 a.m. train out to the Great Lakes, but I don't know where I should go and what train I need to be on.  I was also wondering if I get to stay on the same train or will I need to switch trains?  I read that there is a Metra train station one block from the Recruit Training Command location.  Any suggestions on travel to and from Chicago from the Great Lakes would be very helpful, thanks!

You can take the train from the Ogilie Station (Union Pacific North Line) and get off at the great lakes stop. When you get off you walk 25 yards into the graduation gate. Hope this helps. Any questions call me at 847-212-0246. Make sure that you get on the train that arrives to great lakes at 7:40 AM
