Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 117 and 118
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

How many daughters are in this division? Mine is one.
Hi everyone!
Kellismom - my SR had to have her wisdom teeth pulled but we pretty much knew that going in since they started bothering the last month before she left. Unfortunately I have to 'share her' correspondence and phone calls with her dad, boyfriend and siblings. I know she passed her swim test (thank goodness because she was assistant swim coach for her local Boys & Girls Club swim team) but she hasn't told me specifically about whether she passed/failed her PFT. I do know she did something to her ankle but she said she is recovering okay. Besides the I'm here call, I haven't talked to her. It seems her boyfriend received the first call. I have to keep perspective...which is hard at times...that she didn't go to boot camp right out of the nest and so her communication priorities are probably not the same as mine ha-ha.
Two of her older siblings have traveled extensively overseas with one of them living out of the country for quite a long time and ALL of my kids have said..."Mom...no news is good news" which should have prepared me for this but still....a mother wants to know, when a mother WANTS to know" and waiting for news can seem unbearable at times.
Oh and Kellismom, from what I understand, the first PFT is the baseline that everyone works with. Not passing it does not hold up their initial PIR date. It's the second PFT test I believe they HAVE to pass. Someone said the RDCs are great at getting everyone prepared for the second one.
Nine seconds between pass and failing...wow I bet that hurt emotionally. Does anyone know if they do the run with gear on their backs? You know like in the movies lol.
Hi Hopper Family!!
Got a call today....my son is doing good and seems to be getting used to the routine. Has caught the crud and had wisdom teeth pulled out....but said that he misses being outside the most. Said they spend alot of time indoors.... Hope to meet all of you on 03/15!! Just bought tix yesterday......yay!
Jazzysmom,
Yes, my daughter's fiance' got the call on saturday too (instead of me) sighhhh.....where are these girl's priorities?? : D
Thanks for the info BTW. Oh I do know that PFTs are done in just PT gear (sweats or shorts and t'shirts).
kellismom - my SR failed her first run also. Twisted her ankle and they had to pull her off the course. She was put on LLD for a couple of days but is now fit for duty.
I finally received a letter from her yesterday after work. It came right after I was moping around because my SR had called one of her sisters yesterday and had a long conversation with her. It was amazing how my attitude adjusted when my hubby brought in the mail. I didn't think it would impact me the way it did, seeing her name on that envelope.
That's too funny! I researched the USS Hopper's origins as well. I found it very fitting that my SR wound up in Ship 03 since he is going in as a CTN and will deal with coding in his career.
Hi all, I was surprised yesterday with another call from my SR, happy happy joy joy...although mid conversation she asked if I would mind if she called her boyfriend. Needlesstosay....my call was cut short.
Hope your SRs are better soon...I'm keeping my fingers crossed, so far so good no sickness. She got lucky also with not having her wisdom pulled although she will have some minor fillings done.
Try to enjoy your weekends. Everyday is a day closer to PIR.
