Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 123 and 124

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Matt's mom, my brother Nick is the same way. He is 19 and has never been away from home. I hope the fact that they are all in this situation helps them deal with it.

Me too. I wrote him a letter today telling him to look around. There are so many others in the same boat as you.It will get better!!! Stay positive and just move forward every day :))

I read that some of the recruits with a PIR 3/22 date are starting to get their mail and spirits are lifting. Hurray! I think we'll be seeing mail from them end of this week or early next week.

p.s. anyone else having problems sending replies? sometimes mine come up twice and other times not at all. grrr!

I was hoping we might get mail today. Can't wait to get a letter, but now the post office is going to start quiting delivery service on Saturdays. Poor timing in my opinion(a day less to receive mail from them).

I found some info on the UUS Hopper- She was named after Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. She is only the 2nd ship named after a female. She is a missle destroyer commissioned Sept. 6, 1997. She is in active status. And her motto is "Dare or Do" words to live by. These kids are in a great namesake!

I love it! Thanks for the background on the Hopper! I think regarding the mail service on Saturdays- I think that wont start until late summer if I read correctly.

Hey all!  I am a USPS carrier and have a SR  with all of you and not to worry...this won't take effect till summer (week of Aug 5, 2013) before mail delivery stops on Sats...until then...no worries.

that's good to know. and welcome !

I received my 1st letter today from my SR and so did his girlfriend!  Needless to say we are both ecstatic!!! I did get to talk to him Sunday and he was also very down and sick. He wrote he was tired from being sick but was doing good. Even had some humor in the letter and boy is that a relief! After he talked about being sick, cold, tired and very sore he wrote about all the positive things! He has always loved going to the lake so he is enjoying the swimming challenges. Said he will call and write as often as he can!!! I am very happy to know he is doing well and starting to adjust to BC. I miss him and count the days to PIR and I get to give him a big hug!

Hello, I sent my SR with plenty of stamps and envelopes to write us, the envelopes came back in the kid in a box. He said he couldnt find his stamps, me and his father had bought him a roll each just dont understand what happen to them. So is he able to buy stamps somewhere? Should I send more? I have'nt received a letter yet but I did get a phone call on Saturday. I hope he is getting my letters I have mailed 6 already, and alot of family member have sent several also. His cousin has informed me that she has asked her teacher if her class could write her cousin because she wants him to know he is missed and loved back home. She is only 7yrs old I cried when my sister-in-law told me this, what an amazing thing for her to do. Hope everyone is doing good. Missing my Son alot!!!!!!!

They are given about 100 dollars for toiletries, phone cards etc so he should be able to buy some more. I'm sure another SR would give a stamp to someone who wanted to write home.

That's sweet about the class wanting to write- my sister teaches 5th grade, I should see if she could get her class to write.

Letters from our SRs are coming in!! It seems to me that our SRs are ahead of the game! Everything's been happening earlier than we were told. I don't have my letter yet but maybe today or tonight. Yeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm so happy- not for myself (yet) but for everyone else who's been aching for their recruit. Hurray!
