Hi everyone, I'm Alejandra :D
I've been on this site for a couple months now, just browsing and I didn't have the courage to sign up until a while ago. Umm, where do I start?? Well, I guess I can start by saying that I am in a relationship a Navy sailor named Andrew. We've know each other since 2nd grade and we were friends all through out grade school and high school. And a year after we graduated, we started dating and we've been together for almost 2 years now and we recently got engaged! We kind of had a head start on having a long distance relationship because I moved from AZ to NM :(
Gosh, I hope this isn't too long lol. When Andrew came to me and told me he wanted to enlist, I was nervous. But I was excited because I knew how happy he was to start a career. He leaves really soon, within a week and it's really starting to hit me that he's leaving. With that being said, I'm really excited to meet other Navy gf/fiances and wives and share our experinces with each other :D

Hi all...I guess I could be the vet. newbie on this post lol...My bf went to bootcamp in July graduate BC in Sept....then A-school in Nov.. and he is currently deployed. I won't tell you it's easy but I can say it's worth it. I guess I have a little experience so feel free to ask questions, friend me or inbox me or just comment lol...it's always good to have a sounding board with someone who understands!!!
Lol...sure ask away..
I got to spend the day of PIR with him. He had to be back at 7pm sharp! He then had to leave the next morning for A school and I got to meet him at the airport around 5 am and spent several hours with him before his plane left. Oh also I had to bring his cell, laptop and other personal things to the airport as they cannot take them back to base if they are not in Great Lakes for A-school.
He is an AO which is pretty much working with bombs. He went in undesignated because the rate he wanted was unavailable.
How long is he being deployed for? I know it varies for everyone but I'm worried that my bf and I won't be able to get married for a long time.
The total deployment time would have been 9 months :(...hardest thing I've done!!! But I know if we continue and make it through this...we can make it though anything....so to me this is the best pre-marriage conseling out lol.....we are on the downhill side of the deployment now....cant wait to get the biggest hug ever!!!
Ugh goodness, I can't even begin to imagine being separated for 9 months!!
I have another question.. What happened after A-school graduation? Did he get time off or did you immediatly get stationed and deployed, Is it common for them to get deployed so soon after getting stationed, or does that depend on what ship they end up on?
He had about two weeks off after A-school graduation. I actually got to pick him up from A-school since it was drivable and we hung out on the beach for a couple of days. It depends on where and what ship he is stationed on. We learned when he was still in boot camp where he would be stationed, but we learned while he was in A-school that the ship was deployed and after his leave was up they flew him onto the ship very very far away.
What is your bf's rating? I know depending on the rating they choose, it can take a long time. My bf chose MM (machinist mate) and it's taken six months for his turn to leave to bc. He leaves on the 14th, and it literally feels like he just enlisted yesterday!
