Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 123 and 124

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Emily...i have received a call last Saturday and a letter yesterday.  No Form Letter yet...(what's up with that??)...I am hoping a call this weekend maybe...

7 more Friday's did I say 7 yeah!!!! I hope we all get some calls tomarrow fingers crossed. Congratulations to the New Sailors that graduated this morning!! God Bless hope everyone has a nice weekend. 7 more Fridays!!!!!!!!!

7!! It feels like ages since they left. Fingers crossed for calls tomorrow! I'm so down I didnt get a letter that I don't want to hold too much hope ( a little though) that a second call could come so soon. Congrats to todays recruits! Booyah!

HI Deleware mom - I also did not get a letter :( !  So hope they are able to call soon!  Need that reassuring phone call!  Blizzard going on here, so loved when my son was home and we used to watch movies in snowstorms!  I am sure he is doing well, 'no news is good news right'!  I just keep sending letters.  Congrats to all the NEW SAILORS!  Sure your families are proud!

I got one call last Saturday which a lot of people didn't get so I'm grateful for that but I'm so greedy/anxious for any and all forms of contact. My son is and isn't much of writer. He usually wrote me when he was grounded ( and needed to plead his case) or when he was writing a song. I'm hoping our dingbat mailmen delivered to the wrong address again and suddenly I'll have 3 letters from him. It wont happen, but being the eternal optimist- I hope.

OMG - too funny, I thought the same thing...maybe he wrote the wrong house number under the stress he is under....or wrong mailbox!  Sounds familiar - my sons is so not the writer.....worst subject in school.  Think I will print out that survey that was put out on the main website so he doesn't have to really think and write, just has to answer the questions. Would be a lot easier for them on a tired Sunday!  I'm thinking we probably won't get a call for another two weeks!  Just changed my flight home from PIR to Saturday night since I learned my son will fly to TX for A School!  Where is your son going to A School?

Hi Emily, my son is also on ship 03 and div 123 will also be flying to TX for A School, he is a HM corpsmen...what is your son?  I am told my many that they will fly out sometime Saturday morning from either Ohare or Midway....they get up very early and head to the airport and wait there for their flights....only they will know.  We can head to the airport and hang with them until they actually leave, which is great!  Hope your doing well.

@ Nick's Mom- Mine is staying behind @ Great Lakes for school. I *think* that means a long weekend with him after graduation!

I got a call yesterday (2/9/13) in the morning, he's sick but in good spirits. He has NOT written, (the boogersnot!) because he doesn't have time because he has to study a lot....so he's off the hook for now! He also said he hasn't had much time to read my letters and not enough light, his bunk is the furthest away from the light. Anyhoo- the letters come every day he said which is nice...for the SR's who read them! I'm going to have to be happy with my weekly calls! I also found a voice recorder he'd borrowed a few months back with his voice, reciting some things his recruiter had him learn. I thought I'd hit the lottery! I sent him the questionnaire, which I may never see again. I should send him another with really oddball questions- how many lace holes are on your boots? whats the thread count on your sheets? how many snorers are in your barracks? LOL

He also said that he saw the dentist and that while at some point his wisdom teeth would have to come out, they didn't yank them then, only filled a cavity. He's been struggling with folding, ironing, and making his bed- all things he struggled with at home! Hopefully he steps it up a notch with that!

He mentioned a few were homesick but hanging in there, and everyones been passing colds around, some cranky, some not. Lots of snow too!

He mentioned a hard test coming up too but seemed confident he'd pass it. Overall he sounded good. :)

Hello to all!!  My SR's name is Dennis and we are from southern New Jersey (LBI).  He left out of Philadelphia Airport on January 23rd and is on Ship 03, Div 123.  We received the box and the form letter stating graduation is on March 22nd.  We also received our first letter from him yesterday and he is doing well except for being sick the first week there.  Our family is looking forward to going to the Great Lakes for his graduation.  His father was also there in bootcamp back in 1977, so it will be great having him back there after all these years.

Happy to have found this site and all the information.  Trying to decide where to stay and checking out airfares.  Hoping to meet some of you at graduation or the Meet and Greet!

Kathy

Hi Kathy, welcome!  This website has been invaluable with information.  I have gotten to a put where I have been addicted in reading and learning everything.  My son is also in Ship 03 and Div 123.  I am in RI and he left same day as your son.  Hope your doing well.  I will be at PIR.  I wanted to buy airline tickets that I could change and only Southwest does not charge any fees so I am flying Providence - Midway/Chicago on Thursday morning. I booked the Navy Lodge, its very reasonable $66 a night ,nothing fancy but very close to the base.  I am renting a car since I like to investigate my surroundings.  I just found out my son will be flying to A school and will leave on Saturday so I just changed my return to flight to Saturday night.  Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on this website.  The veteran moms on this sight know pretty much everything!    Tammy

Hello Kathy, welcome . We are looking forward to going also and are also think alot of the USS Hopper family are staying at the navy lodge. My father and grand father were in the navy also, father went to GL and when I told him the SR's got their ship and bunks trashed, the first thing my dad did was laugh and then said "yep and they have a time limit to clean it up....did they get it?" I said "yes sir, that's why they got to call"! My father is enjoying talking about his navy days! He didn't do much but played football and boxed, LOL!

Got another call from my SR He sounded really good!!! I was very impressed on how well he sounded. He said that their division is doing good, Thank You Jesus!!!! I hope all you get calls today. He also metioned that he has been getting all his letters. Have a wonderful weekend I know mine is now complete that I talked to my Son.
