Hi Everyone!!

I'm new to this group and so glad I found it! My son just left Monday Feb. 11 for Great Lakes and I've been having a difficult time with it. I did receive his phone call that lasted all of 10 sec. but at least I heard his voice and from some of the other post I have seen I should consider myself very lucky. We are from Coldwater and right now I feel like I'm on an island. I hear that I should receive a letter soon with vital information. Can anyone tell me when I should receive this? Going crazy in southwest Michigan :/

Couple things...your sons PIR group (the date he will be graduating) will be starting on N4M soon...that's a good one to be in: his "ship" will be on there too. Please join the reg Mich group where we all are....There are ladies from all over Mich that will help you through this too. There are "veteran " ladies on the PIR groups that get you through all the ups and downs of boot camp. It is a roller coaster of a ride!!!!!!

So I can join a group with other moms that sons should be graduating at the same time? That would be so comforting. This is a awesome thing moms helping moms and it makes me feel not alone and closer to what my son is going through. You would've thought that I would be better at him going away since he did go to college at WSU in Detroit but i guess Im still not ready to let go. Thank you so much for the information. I plan on learning as much as I can.
Back to work and don't really wamt to be here
Missing my son on this Valentines Day. Can't even send him a card cause i haven't got his first letter yet:( Don't have a address
Tammibea, i don't live far from Coldwater. My son is a nuke sailor on a submarine. Boot camp is hard for us moms and this experience is so different from just sending them to college. Join all the groups that apply and you will have plenty of help. Definitely join the PIR group. Be sure to join in the regular conversations on our Michigan group and welcome to Navy for Moms!

Hi tammibea, how ya doing?  start writting those letters, when you get his address you can mail them all.  It will help him.  My son, been in two and a half years  now, said those letters made it so much better. I use to write about every little thing.  they graded the road today to what plants i put in the ground that day.  So he could feel like he was still home, well kinda.  It so helped me feel like i kept in touch with him.  Lucky you so close to GL for graduation.  If you can please make sure you go.  It's a wonderful experience and everyone there feels the same as you.  Hope to see you on the other boards too.  Ask all the questions and share your feelings.  We understand and can help you get throught this journey in your life.

Hi , just found this group and saw that your son and my son left on the same day! Do you know when his PIR is yet?

Yes, swcc27mom(ship4div808)...My son's graduation is 4/12/13. I got the formal letter yesterday. Hope you get yours soon.
