While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

♥We Stitch Love Project♥
We Stitch Love is a program where we create pillowcases and other handmade items for our deployed military.
Our goal is to help these heroes have a little bit of ‘home’ while they are away from home. We are helping them with sweet dreams when they take a break.

Pillowcases can be sewn together or premade cases can be decorated with paint or tie dyed. There are several different ways to make a premade case special if you don’t sew. As long as there is love inserted through effort, they are stitched with love!
A standard size pillow is 20”x26”. Pillowcases should be at least 22”x28” or longer. The body of the pillowcase should have at least one side that is soft to sleep on and without seams where their head will rest. There are different ways to sew a pillowcase. Here are a couple different ways.
Always prewash fabric and premade cases to remove sizing and shrinkage. (Adding a little vinegar helps to soften the fabric and set the dyes)

A different version is to cut the body 24”x44” and use an 8”x44” band. Sew band to body, press seam towards band top. Stitch side and bottom of body, zigzag edges so they don’t fray. Turn inside out, press and top stitch band seam. Turn down ¼” and press, fold over a 1” hem and stitch.

For inexpensive plain (second quality manufacturers runs) visit www.pillowcase.net for large quantities of white or colored plain pillowcases to decorate.
Be sure and post pictures of your completed pillowcases and of any sewing parties.

Ladies, our February adoption consists of 3 different branches/groups. Only two are allowed pillowcases. They are both in the sand box.
Army is 48 male
Coast Guard is 25 male, 3 female
If you can send pillowcases, let me know how many and to which group you would like to send.

Hi ladies - just wanted to post that Pillowcase.net is currently running a contest to give away 2 cases of pillowcases (36 each box). A great way to help supply the cause. I just entered the contest and there are 3 other N4M's entered. Check it out and vote for each of us so that one of us "will" win and add to our inventory.
I've been wanting to participate in this group but haven't sewn in ages. But did my first set of tie-dyed pillowcases a couple of weeks ago. Adopting my son's unit and getting ready for when he deploys. Looking forward to helping out real soon. My girlfriend and I had a blast - a first for both of us.

I am entered in the contest...
also watch when you are tie dyeing... be sure to have washed and dried the pillowcase before dyeing... and after dyeing is dried put back in dryer and tumble again to heat set colors... otherwise the dye will wash out... and the guys will have colored tshirts and socks!!

Thanks for sharing those tips Susan! I've never done the tie dye before. I'm afraid to start another craft as my family thinks I'm already a fabric hoarder! haha! If I win, I'll pass them on to someone.
