Hi everyone again - My son leaves on 3/6 from Youngstown, OH. He has been in DEP since April last year. We are so very proud of him & know that this is the right path for him. Looking forward to hopefully meeting some of you at PIR.

Hi Pat - I'm from Ohio; my son will be leaving on Wednesday.
And so it begins....... He left this morning from Columbus, OH. They drove, not sure if it was the number going or the impending weather but they said they could travel either by bus or air and bus it was. We got to spend about an hour with him at MEPs before he left. I haven't gotten the call yet but from what I've read on earlier groups I won't be surprised if it's really late. Hope your son doesn't get held up from the snow but I'm sure they're used to it in Chicago. Good luck to your sson to be sailor and looking forward to meeting some of you too at PIR.
Hi all ! My son left yesterday 3/4 from Columbus. We got our call close to 9:30. It lasted about 45secs. I could hear them telling them to hurry it up and his cell phone battery was dying. He said he was ok and made it there safely. I told him I love him and work hard. Miss him like crazy. I've finally gotten to point that I'm not crying anymore.
My son left yesterday from Minneapolis. Good luck to you and your son!
Thanks good luck to you n your son too. Maybe they'll be training together.
We watched our daughter get sworn in this morning. She left for the airport around 2pm. Her flight doesn't leave until around 6pm. We are hoping it isn't delayed or cancelled due to the snow storm. I'm not sure what happens if the flight is cancelled.Does anyone know?
Good luck to you and your daughter. We watched our son get sworn in yesterday. So proud!
Marla Rae - I think you said you are out of Atlanta? I know our other son in the past has been delayed in the past and spent the night in an airport USO, I assume Atlanta has a big one (some have cots though not all), and they let the troops hang out. They usually have some food and stuff 24/7 at the big ones.
Our son is going out of San Diego MEPS, and they told him (last we heard) that he would probably just stay there until tomorrow and not even try today. But we have not heard anything today - assume we will tonight.
Praying Mom- She just texted about 20 minutes ago, that they were boarding. Now they just have to get to Chicago safely and then the bus ride to GL. Hopefully all will go well for them. I hope your son gets out safely as well. I'm sure they will all be quite tired after this long day. We are so very proud of her, as I'm sure you are of your son. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. Good luck to you and your son.
just got a text from our son, he is leaving on a flight tomorrow morning - so they are putting him up one more night in San Diego. But he is sworn in and all ready to go! woo hoo!
