My son I'd headed out on March 13th. I'm nervous and excited. But mostly I want to enjoy every last moment with him. We are taking a family vacation over Christmas and are visiting lots of family. Any ideas of other things to do? All the posts on this site are so helpful.

My oldest son left from Raleigh, NC this evening and arrived in Chicago about an hour ago. He called us to let us know he had landed and was watching it snow while waiting to go to Great Lakes. It was so good to hear his voice and the excitement in it. It is all I can do not to cry. Just keep telling myself he will be fine and it will be May before I know it. His A school will be in Great Lakes too.

My son left for boot camp this morning on March 12, 2013 from San Diego. I was very happy and relieved when I got a text message from him while he was still on the plane that he had arrived in Chicago. He said it was cold, he was hungry and tired but doing OK. He only slept 2 hours last night. I'm already counting the days until Graduation!!

Counting Fridays may be easier on you than counting days.  For now, the best guestimate would be that PIR will be 05/10/2013 by counting 9 Fridays after arrival, but it could be the week before, 05/03/2013, since he is arriving on a Tuesday. You will have to wait on the form letter to know for sure.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

Hugs to you all I have one more week with my son. Remember the military life will not define him He will embrace it and let it improveupon the person he strives to be!( from the oarents creed of a sailor)

Luke left yesterday and will arrive in Chicago today, then on to the Great Lake ~ Next time I see my baby he will be a "MAN" and a Sailor for the United States of America...I am so proud of him.

The tears are a bit less now, not the flowing river they were yesterday.. Thank you to all you other mothers sharing your emotions...it is so nice to have a place to go to connect with others going through the same thing... It's great therapy.

We are all, truly blessed with wonderful children,

Hope all you have a great day!

Snce your SR arrived on the 13th, by counting 9 Fridays the most likely PIR date is 05/10/2013.  It could also be 05/03/2013, but that is less likely for one who arrived on a Wednesday as your SR did.  (See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC for more on that and be sure to check out the other Pages as well.)

that is what I counted as well...I wish it would be 5/03 as my older son will leave GL for his C school assignment on 5/04. It would have been nice to be able to see him and have him attend my youngest son's PIR...so close!

You'll just have to wait on the form letter and see, but the 10th is the most likely--sorry.

You are very welcome.  I hope it all works out for you.

My son arrived at the Great Lakes on, 3/12/2013.  I received his form letter and his box yesterday (3/18/13).  He is Ship 12 DIV 177 and his PIR is scheduled for 5/10/13.  He will move on to the Nuke Power School in Charleston, SC after that.  I can't wait for May!!!

I also received my sons box to, but no letter yet.

I received the box too, my son slipped a note in the pocket of his pants. It was addressed to both his gf and I but it was mostly to her..that's okay it was like hearing from him. I am surprised someone else already got their letter. When my oldest son went around a year ago those two items (box and form letter) were about a week apart. I'll be happy to get the letter sooner.
