That dscussion has been deleted.

See the info in Saving Money PIR Weekend.

Civilians can only stay at this Navy Lodge, they allow that for special circumstances of PIR but you're right, you can't do that for any others.  Just an FYI for those not realizing that this one has different rules.

Navy Lodge is GREAT...prices and facilities...We had a great experience and TAXI service by SARGE is by far the BEST!!!

Red Roof Inn - 3031 Belvidere Rd. 1-800-416-1327 or 1800-230-4134 (listed as Comfort Inn on 2013 Navy flyer)  -  very clean from the moment we walked in.  Manager made a point of personally visiting each room to thank the new sailors for their service.  Price was very reasonable.  We had adjoining rooms which made it easy for us to feel all together.  Plenty of places to eat within walking distance which was refreshing after sitting in the car all day.  Room had been cleaned and new towels before our return from PIR.  Nice and quiet for the few precious hours with our exhausted sailor.  We were not in any big crowds including the 6:15 a.m. lineup for the shuttles.  Never felt like we were in a tourist trap - they appreciated the Navy Families and they knew this was an important weekend.  Highly recommended!

Hi Cindy, do you have a wesite or phone number for the navy lodge to make reservations?

I'm not Cindy, but you can go to https://www.navy-lodge.com/lodge_page.html?p_lodge_number=05 or call (847)689-1485. (There is more info within Saving Money PIR Weekend in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Waukegan. I highly recommend their facility due to its cleanliness, courteous staff, free breakfast buffet, close vicinity to RTC and the shuttle service available for PIR day.

Does the Residence Inn have a exercise room and does the shuttle get there early when the gates open at 0630?

If you take a shuttle, you will want to arrive closer to 7:00 am when the Visitors Center and Drill Hall open rather than at 6:30 when the gate opens.

Cool, thanks.  If we do arrive earlier and the gates are open, do we just wait outside the Drill Hall or have to stay in the Visitors Center?

You will be directed to the appropriate place.  You will start at the Visitors Center to check in.
