I am right there with you!!! My son also left on March 13 except the plane had trouble so the recruits sat at airport without food, money or phones till 11 pm! After getting back to hotel some how they left next morning for airport at 4:30 for a 5:45 am flight which landed in Chicago at 8:15 am and they did not get to boot camp until MIDNIGHT. I recieved my 15 second phone call at 1:10 am ! Just recieved my sons clothes about 1 hour ago. I know he is safe but I still worry. He is my only child. Guess us mothers have the right to worry! Take care and God bless. I will keep him in my prayers. Would be neat if they were in same division!

God Bless all of us proud moms!  I am in the same boat as well!  I dropped my son off at the recruiter's office on the 13th and met him down at the Louisville Airport Holiday Inn Express where we got to spend the rest of the evening (til 10:30 pm) together then he had to go to his room, which he wasn't even allowed to let us know what floor he was on  :o(  I lost it big time when I had to say good night / good bye because I wasn't aware that I was allowed to "hang out" with him at the Federal Building, watch him get sworn in, then hang out with him at the airport.  Now that was the worst part was watching him walk to his plane...I was hoping for that last turn around but I guess it was too hard for him to see me because I was more a hot mess than the night before at the hotel!  I tried soooo hard to hold it in so he wouldn't worry about me but unfortunately my "motherly instincts" just came out!  I have another son who will be 18 on April 1st who now wants to join and I am trying to talk him in to waiting because I can not go through this again  It was and still is so hard but I find it getting a little easier everyday....but then again I find myself crying every now and then also.....I guess it's normal)!  I am so glad to have found and joined this website because these ladies have been the greatest in getting me through all these trials and tribulations!  Thank you to all who have helped!  God Bless you and your family!

Just wondering how you are doing?  My son left March 12th and PIR is May 10th.  I have to tell you I felt the same way but once we got a call from him after a couple of weeks it made me feel so much better and I wan't even here for it.  He called this morning and we had about a half hour on the phone with him.  Just knowing that he likes it there has made a big difference for me because I know he is doing what he wanted to do and is happy.

I had a son do two deployments with the marines in Iraq. I just keep telling myself that my navy son is safe and doing great work in power schoo and a deployment is a long way off. Deployment is the tough part. Look at the bright side and don' t let him know you are devestated! He is proud of his acco.plishments. Focus on the other kids. They still need the focus.

Hi my3sons!  You are not alone.  All of us on here are here with a purpose and because we seek the support of fellow mothers, wives, girlfriends, or whomever that feels like their innards are being ripped apart at the seams.  This is one of the hardest things that has ever happened to me to see my son join the military.  My baby.  I worry about him constantly and miss him profoundly.  However, I give thanks to God that he is doing this out of his own free will and that above all, he will learn something positive from it.  I can do little more than pray for his successes in BC and then in A school.  Now that he has enlisted, I know that he aspires to succeed, so I pray for him and for his stregnth, endurance, peace of mind.  I remind myself that he is not the first, and not the last sailor to go thru what he is going thru.  God bless you for your love for your son but when a tear begins to form hold your head up high in the knowledge that he is doing something you can be proud of .  Take care.

I would like to invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). There will be a lot of great information and support for you in there as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) in both groups.

Hello nice lady! I am ex army with a son who is about to depart on the 1st of july. Please understand that ur son is laying the foundation for his future. We never want our children in harms way but we have to let them grow so they can try to figure out who they truly are. It will strengthen him in so many ways. Pray for him to be strong in heart and in mind. That victory is in his hands.
