For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi :) I am a New wife whose Husband just joined the Navy. He is now doing his training in Great Lakes, IL and i have some questions Please help
Does anyone else have a loved one who arrived on March 19?
The last time i heard from my husband was around 8 pm central time, and he called just to tell me
he made it and to expect another call and that i should be receiving a package.
Does anyone know when i should receive my first letter from him? i miss him so much he has been the rock for our family and i feel torn without him. i still stand and support him but i would be lying if i say i did not miss him. Also does anyone know what division he may be in?

I am sure that our husbands are probably in the same division. I am still waiting on his box and his formal letter. Have you received anything from your husband yet?

From what i'v read and heard from other post. they get really busy the first couple days. In about a week or 2 you should be getting a box with all his items and clothes he wore that day and a formal letter letting you know what division he is in and his Graduation date. when i receive mine that is when i think would be the best time to start planning the flight out there. i heard hotels and rental agencies can pack up quick also trying to book a reservation at the naval lodge. if you have anymore questions or any information on the division. let me know i'd be happy to help and i'm always happy to hear new information. Us wives have to stick together! :)

@Chanel Hello there :-) my fiancé is in bootcamp and has three weeks left so I can help you out a little bit. He left on a Thursday and the following week, his mother got "the box" and then the following week, she recieved the form with his address, division and PIR date. I started recieving mail two Wednesdays after he left, about two weeks. Keep in mind, this is my experience and yours may be different. My SR was able to make a call home on a Sunday, about 3 weeks in. It's ok to miss you, I guarantee he misses you just as much or perhaps even more. Write him everyday, even if you did nothing special that day. Your SR will be looking forward to recieving any mail, trust me. Don't send any letters until you get an address though!! Keep your head high throughout this, you can make it through. If you're having a bad day, don't hesitate to come talk it out here, we will be here for you!! :-)

Thank you so much for that! i really appreciate the support everyone shares with each other. Congrats to your SR! only 3 weeks left! gosh i can not wait until i'm in a hotelfor his PIR looking out the window counting down to the hours i see my SR. Do you know if your SR flies out to A school or if they're staying in GL? i found out through my hubby's job title that he'll stay in GL for A school. it kind of sucks i cant spend the weekend with him but if even for a day it's going to be worth it. Congrats again to you both! your really strong yourself for toughing it out for your man! :D

If they are staying in Great Lakes for "A" School, they check in after PIR, takes 3-5 hours, than they are allowed on liberty until a set time that night, at which time they must report back to base and stay in the barracks. They are allowed liberty again on Sat and Sunday morning until a set time each night. They are not allowed overnight liberty as they have not earned that privilege.

@Chanel I'm so excited; three weeks its not that long!! I have a countdown app on my phone, counting down the days, hours, and minutes until his graduation lol. I would suggest getting one, it's helped me remain calm lol. I think that he's starting in GL because we'll be able to see him that weekend too. If your SR is staying in GL for A school, you'll be able to see him that weekend too. It takes a special kind of woman to go through this experience lol. In the end it's more than worth it :-)

Hi Chanel, my bf is ship 12 div 189 and i got a call form him yesterday! Maybe you got a call too?! But he told me that they are allowed to finally send out their letters TOMORROW! So hopefully this week we all will get our first hadn written letter:)

They are only allowed to write on Sundays. Writing after hours in their rack is breaking the rules. If your SR is doing that, don't post about it. Word gets to other loved ones on this board, they casually mention it in one of their letters, word gets around... and the whole ship can lose privileges. Just so you know.....
