Hi! :) i am a New Wife to a Navy Recruit Sailor in Training. My husband is currently in Great Lakes, IL since March 19,2013 Please help

Does anyone else have a loved one who arrived on March 19?

The last time i heard from my husband was around 8 pm central time, and he called just to tell me

he made it and to expect another call and that i should be receiving a package.

Does anyone know when i should receive my first letter from him? i miss him so much he has been the rock for our family and i feel torn without him. i still stand and support him but i would be lying if i say i did not miss him. Also does anyone know what division he may be in? i would love to join a group with other mothers, wives and loved one.

I know! When he called me he seemed different, his voice was kind of low but i smiled when i heard him chuckle a bit. i know he misses me like i miss him. i just want to send letters soon so he knows his family is still rooting for him. I'm also nervous about the PIR from what i hear the Recruits really don't have a lot of time spend before they leave to their A School which sucks.

You will be able to spend Saturday and Sunday after PIR with him since his "A" School is in GL.  See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend for more on that.

Thanks again for your information! your helping me paint a much clearer picture!

I'm glad to help.

Thank You!

If the recruiter gave me the correct address and i began sending the letters would my husband receive them? or will his RDC keep them from him?

The RDC will not hold the letters; they will be held in the mail room because your SR's division is not in his permanent ship yet and a RMPO has not been trained. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit. Your SR will finish regular P-days next Tuesday (03/26/2013) and if there are enough recruits for the division, will move to his ship on that date. That will be the date that the form letter will most likely be mailed as well.

chanel, my wife went in on the 18th of march and i received the box today, i still do not know her div. or anything. they will set up a facebook page for his division soon, you can find a link on here to it.

Ahh congrats! I'm still waiting on the box :( I hope it comes soon I live in an apartment
So I'm pretty sure I'm annoying the front office calling everyday

I have a son who just arrived on the 19th as well. We got the call about 8pm. He is soon to be 21 in a few weeks. I can't answer any of your questions. My son just said we would be receiving letters half way through. sorry I can't help but I would like to know all of that too and can't wait for the next call. It was hard to let him go.

This is the best site when it comes to any questions, comments or concerns :) i'm sure your son and my husband may be in the same division  you should be receiving his box soon if you haven't received it already. then the next item in the mail will be his form letter. letting you know his division and mailing address also a little note. i can't wait to see my husbands little note probably asking i send him pictures of his daughter and i. hang in there!

Chantel- When you get ready to go to PIR, send me a private message if you'd like some trips on traveling with a one year old. I traveled a lot for my last job(two flights a week) and many of times I took one or two of my toddlers. I was the president for 7 years of our local Moms group and now as a Mom of  5 young adults and teens and a two year old granddaughter, they are all pretty seasoned travelers.Just let me know if I can help you with travel plans....
