OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I need help! lol

My husband is looking at getting orders in June, which means we might also have to move by then too.

I have a newborn now so it is stressful to think about a move. I'll be on his orders so does that mean the Navy will pay for the move? Should we do it ourselves? At first I was open to doing it ourselves but we could save the money. I need advice from people who have done their very first move to their duty stations and how you did it?

Whether it was you were living with your parents at the time or whatever I need help.

I let the Navy do it. From what I have heard they are cracking down on how much money you can truly pocket off a DITY move. most people I have talked to that that did a DITY move for their first move (or any at that) unless it was super close said its not worth it. If you have the Navy do it they come pack your stuff up, and take it to the new location and come and bring it to you and set up furniture and whatnot. Which is nice if you are alone like I was its hard to put a bed together when you have to set the two pieces on opposite ends in at the exact same time. lol I let the Navy do it. You can get dislocation allowance and travel money which will cover all that as long as you are on the orders. If for some reason you arent and its CONUS then he needs to talk to someone to make sure his pae 2 got updated and whatnot. If its out of the country and he is E3 or under then no you probably wont get put on orders. I had my stuff in a storage unit and it really was super easy letting the Navy move me and just worry about getting across the country with my pups. Its also helpful for if you dont have a place at your new duty station because they will store it for you for like up to 90 days or 60 for free so you can look and stay in a hotel and your stuff will be safe in storage.

OMG! Meagan sounds like exactly what I need. I really want them to do it, lol I was just looking at our bed the other day in sheer terror about it being so big. 

He just signed off on his page 2 update last week, he was told by student management we should be receiving BAH next month. He also tried to see about detailers paperwork but since they are in Washington he was told with his page 2 updated there should be no reason why I wouldn't be on his orders. 

It is mostly school commands where it is critical the detailer gets the message.

He is in P-Cola and as far as he was told by his chief they don't know any special paper work for the detailers. He doesn't know how to get into contact with these people. Has anyone else had to do paperwork with them. Meagan I believe you married your sailor in A-school, did he do any paperwork with detailers? Weren't you on his orders?
Here they say that usually the page two is enough for fleet sailors, but if it is a sailor coming out of A school, the instructor should call or email the detailer.  Just make sure the information gets where it should go. 

I already have that page liked and already asked. All they are telling me is the same thing you did but no real information on how to get this done. 

He has ship board ops after his A-school so who exactly should he contact, he no longer has the same instructor, he is actually starting ship board ops next week.

I just called the NPC's customer service website. They were very helpful and put my mind at ease. They did show in their system that he does have dependents so that will definitely show, they even have his shipboard ops as his "open ended" orders which we already knew about. All i provided was his social and they were able to locate him. So hopefully someone who also has been freaking out about this can read it and find some relief. 

FYI..detailers are in Millington, TN not Washington.

He was misinformed, since the page I liked on FB says TN 

haha yeah its really nice and eases your mind. Also, (you might call USAA to confirm) but USAA told a friend of mine if you have their renters insurance on your stuff before you move it will be covered during the move. Now I know the Navy covers your stuff as well but I have heard USAA is faster. Again thats a personal decision, I didnt have it on mine but I have known people that did jic. It also might be good to do in your situation just because the summer can be pretty busy so even though yall get somewhere and get setted in your household goods might not be there right away and they might only be able to deliver them after he has gone back to work or even out on an underway. He can go down to fleet and family services to get info about moving for you, and get info about wherever yall will be stationed. And I know my husband went to the personal property office there for help but they werent very helpful after they helped him fix a password issue. They only answered one question for him and pretty much booted him instead of answering the rest. move.mil can be tricky to navigate but I know you can call a Personal Property office and they should walk you through how to get it started and get set up. Or if not there might be a married instructor that can help. (nothing against the single instructors but uh their advice to my husband was to sell all our stuff and pack our clothes and dogs in the car and drive to the next duty station... lol they said just keep doing that for every move.)
