Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 175 and 176.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Yes, he was able to call on Saturday.  He sounded a little down, and said that he thought that this week was going to be a difficult one for him.  I hope that he was just having a low day, and that he perks up.  I hope that he had a chance to drop us a line yesterday, maybe he will sound better after a lighter day.  I know that when I got his note last week, he said that last Saturday (3/23) was a rough day for them.  It's got to be so tough for them with all of the changes, being away from home, having all the shots/dental work...plus it was a holiday weekend.  We were able to talk for awhile, the longest since he left.  I think the night they got there I spoke with him for like 30 seconds, and the second call last weekend was like 7 minutes. Hope that these boys hang in there!

:( I was hoping for better news. I wasn't able to talk to my son but for a minute. Broke my heart. I know my son was crying 3/23 said mentally it was rough but easy otherwise. Just long and wants it over. I didn't get to say nothing but I love you this last Saturday. I know he was really bummed out. I sure hope they had something special yesterday. Where are you staying at for PIR?

I think the Marriott Spring Hill Suites in Waukegon.  We have 3 other kids and my husband and I so we needed some room.  Also my son's teacher from high school is going to the graduation, too, and he has a wife and 2 young children, so they wanted something with a pool.  We are all really good friends, and my son wanted his teacher there, so I was thrilled that he was able to come. My daughters are not going to go to the PIR because of the limited amount of tickets, but they will see him after the ceremony.  I just wish that we had a better idea of what to expect as far as their free time.  Does your son know where he is headed after bootcamp?

If he stays in Great Lakes for his A school then you will have half the day on Friday and from 6am to 10pm both Saturday and Sunday. If he leaves to another state for school then you should have right after PIR for a few hours. We booked a room to stay on base. I thought this would be better as they are cheaper and he can relax and watch TV if he wants. :) I know he will want to sleep. LOL

That is so cool about his teacher. So far it is just myself and my husband going to his graduation. I really haven't extended out any other invitations. Guess I am being a little selfish. LOL

Are you going to meet and greet?

I'm not really sure how it's going to play out.  I think that my husband is going to be in Chicago for work some of those days...haven't really had a chance to look at our schedules.  If he is there already, the kids and I will meet him on Thursday.  I think I would like to go to the Meet and greet on Thursday.  Do we need to RSVP for that?  Are siblings invited? My other kids are high school/junior high.  I really just wish that I could call and check in on my son.  He was really blue on Saturday and that is not like him.  Hopefully he got a chance to write a note, and his demeanor is better.  What time do you plan on arriving in Chicago?  It is like a 4-5 hour drive for me.  Have you heard that some of the SRs have had their departure to A school delayed?  I wish that they could just come home for a couple days in the event that there is a delay, but I think that they just stay at Great Lakes until a spot opens up.  He would probably fall back into some old habits if he did that! lol Do you know where your son is headed after bootcamp?

I also would like to find out when the corpsman or medic recruits will be going to A school?  If he stays at Great Lakes, il that would be wonderful so he could come home.

It depends on where they will be going to school. If he leaves to another state they leave that next morning. If he stays in great lakes they will have a free weekend. ;) They can leave from 6am to 10pm I am told. Not 100% certain but I am looking forward to having the time with my son.

my Nephew is 176!

We booked our room yesterday. We will be staying on Base at the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites. Very reasonable. :)

how much?  so maybe i could do the same?  Do you know when and where is the greet and meet supper on May 4th, 2013?

I got a letter last night. It was short and looked like he was cut off. But nice to have one.

Below you said you did not get a letter and here you are saying that you got one?????  Which is which????
