Well we have all survived the first week, what a long sad week. I'm am definitely feeling more at ease now, thank God.

Very long week !! I'm feeling better as well!!

Got my letter today, was so excited. Ship 11 Div 196. And we called it right. PIR is 24 May! Hopefully the package will be arriving soon. I used to complain about how fast the weekends are, now I want them and the weeks to pass by quickly.

My daughter left March 26 as well.  She is our only child and boy does the house seem empty and quite now.  I got her address from recruiter yesterday and sent off my first letter to her today.  She is ship 14 div 198.  I was expecting that May 31st would be her PIR but it appears more like May 24 which makes me feel a little better.  Only 50 more days to go!

Got the box today but still no letter I don't know why but it makes me uneasy :(

Catie, everything is fine. Remember, "No news is good news!" "The box" comes first and then about a week later, the form letter arrives; some come sooner and some later, but the average is to receive the form letter 10 days after arrival. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC (clickable link) within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages within that group and the PIR group.

How many days should I plan on staying in Illinois. The OIR is Memorial day weekend, how do I know when he leaves for A school

Every thing is such a process with no communication

Arrive the day before PIR and attend at least Sarge's Meet and Greet.  If your Sailor is staying at GL for "A" School, then plan to leave late Monday or on Tuesday if you are able because those Sailors will have Liberty on Monday as well.  If your Sailor is flying out to "A" School, plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday because the Sailors will most likely still fly out on Saturday unless flight availability issues due to the holiday weekend change that.  What will your SR's rating (job/specialty) be?  That will help to determine how long you should stay and there are groups for most "A" Schools and/or ratings.

amr2393, yes, Division 198 will have PIR on 05/24/2013, so join the group, PIR 05/24/2013 TG 28, to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 197 and 198 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

Since you received the address from the recruiter, double-check the address the recruiter gave you against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp and/or Ship/Division--How it Works We strongly urge you to wait on the form letter before sending letters.  Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit will tell you more about that. Check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) while you are there.
