Son has finished A schooling in Missouri and is headed to Gulfport Tuesday. Anyone else new to Gulfport too?

Good to hear that your son likes it there. My son is equipment operator. He will be starting ecs shortly and then staying in Gulfport as his permanent base for now.
My son just completed A School (EA - Engineering Aide) in Missouri as well, and is now in Gulfport. He's doing an Expedited Combat Training for the next few weeks, and it sounds like he'll be settling in for a while. We're from Montana, and I know he's not missing the weather we've been having - asked to find a way to get his golf clubs to him.
My son said he should be starting that training too shortly. He will then stay in Gulport to be his permanent base for now. He is EO - Equipment Operator. I am sure they know each other if your son just completed his school in Missouri too. I know the EA's and EO's knew each other there.
We are going to visit March 22 for the weekend. Traveling from New York State to bring him his truck. He just asked me yesterday if we could throw the golf clubs in the back of the truck and bring them. LOL. If we were on the way, I would stop and get your sons golf clubs too. Sorry.
Does not have a mailing address yet because of the combat training. He also said that he heard they cannot receive packaged on base. Don;t know how true this is. I usually send him a care package once a week with homemade goodies. Can't believe I won't be able to do that now.
New Seabee Mom. My son just arrived in Gulfport on Saturday. Nice to read about all the amenities. Big change from Boot camp.
Hoping he likes it. My son is enjoying his time there so far. They have gone to a NBA game in New Orleans, a concert in Biloxi and also went and spend the day/night in New Orleans too. Weather has been good too.
My son flew out on Saturday morning to Missouri. We met him at the airport at 4 am. They bus them there. I think he flew out about 9 am. We did get gate passes to go to his gate with him. Had breakfast at airport and spent a couple of hours with him. I think most that were going to Missouri flew out on Saturday morning. If they stay at Great Lakes, you get to spend the weekend with them, but most fly out on Saturday if they are going elsewhere. Hope this helps.
