Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 169 and 170.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Aloha hawaiinavymom, so nice to hear from you.  I'm just getting used to this site.  I hope to meet you at PIR.  My son John, distributes the mail for his group.  I hope my son calls tomorrow.  Have you heard from your son?   We gotta hang loose mama and stay strong.  Mahalo.

Carla

Aloha Carla,Thanks for writing. Yes I have heard from my son Jacob. He's called the past two Saturdays and then again this past Wednesday.  I'm amazed at the amount of calls. I hope that you have heard from John. I too am just getting used to this site but can't begin to tell you how much it has helped me. Where are you staying. I'm booked at the Navy Lodge because it's so close to base. I hope it's okay. My son is going to A School in San Antonio TX and I'm not sure when he leaves. His recruiter told me I'd be lucky to have enough time to have lunch with him. I certainly hope that I have more time than that with him but I'll take what I can get. Hawaii is soooo far away, my time in the airports and on the planes is 14 hours. Please let me have more then just lunch with him!!!! Again I'll take what I can get. From what I've heard I'll get to see him off at the airport on his way to A school and there I can give him his phone and tablet which I know he can't wait to get his hands on after 9 weeks without it. lol I hope to get to meet you too. Are you going to one of the Meet and Greets and if so which one?

Looking forward to chatting again soon.

Mahalo and Aloha

Donna

Hi Donna,

So good to hear from you and I am so glad you heard from Jacob. What will he be studying in San Antonio?  John will be studying electronics and computers in GL.   John called but we were in the mountains in a canyon and did not get his call !  Needless to say, very unhappy about that.  We did get a letter today which helps...sure miss his voice.  But we remain upbeat.  He is actually looking forward to getting his wisdom teeth pulled so he can have 2 days rest afterward.  Wow they must be exhausted.  I hope to meet you at the Sarges Meet and Greet on the 2nd, we arrive at at 6:40pm so I hope there will be enough time to get there.  So right now I am staring at the phone ...willing it to ring....so much for my Jedi mind trick.  God bless you and your wonderful son.

Carla

Hey Carla,

Thanks for writing back. Jacob is going to be a corpsman. So his A School is basicly nursing 101. I'm so proud of him, he wants to save lives! Yes I will be attending Sarge's Meet and Greet and I hope you make it on time as well. Did you ever get the Wednesday call? From what I've read that will be the last one for awhile because they've entered a new phase of training and we won't be hearing from them until Battle Stations is over. I miss him so much and I hope that's not true. I don't like not hearing his voice. I too received a letter and couldn't believe how nice his penmanship was, WOW!! Is John sick? Jacob said that after he got his wisdom teeth pulled he and most of the Division got the flu. I was amazed that he still sounded so upbeat and positive. Where are you staying? Again I hope to meet you. I'm traveling alone as none of my friends or family members are able to make it to PIR. I wouldn't miss it for the world though! Only 29 days to go, YAY! Who will you be going with? Hope to see you there.

Aloha

Donna

Aloha Everyone, Does anyone have an SR who's going to A School in San Antonio,Tx? I'm wondering when they will fly out after PIR? I"m coming all the way from Hawaii and I'm praying to have some time with him. I was told that they usually leave very early the morning after PIR and that we can see them off at the airport. The airport will issue a special gate pass so you can sit with them until they depart. Has anyone else heard this? I hope it's true.

Is anyone else staying at The Navy Lodge? It's real close to Base.

God Bless All

Donna

I believe our son is going to San Antonio - he is an MA.  We are really confused too on what the plans for their travel is.  We are flying in, so we got tickets to go home Saturday evening, figuring we can sit with him for part of the day if he is there at the airport too, or ... trying to be flexible :-)   I am not sure about the gate pass - I assume you are flying in too?

My son is ship 13 Div. 169 . looking forward to meeting also. :) counting down now to May 3rd.

Hello Moms of Ship 13: Marvin Shields,

My son John's best BC buddies are 2 twins from Missouri, 1 twin named Matt, Bo, the other I think.  If you are the mom of these great men, maybe we can chat and share info. :)  We are getting closer to the finish line....steady as she goes. All the best,

C.

My son is staying in G.L. for A School. We will be going to Sarge's Meet & Greet on May 2, looking forward to meeting everyone also .

I received a letter from my son ,he told me he had only 1 of his wisdom teeth pulled. he said he was doing O,K. I was surprised to hear that some of the reccruiter's had the flu.  I know it's been very cold and rainy there. I hope by May 3rd. the weather is a little bit warmer!!   we are attending Sarge's Meet & Greet on thurs. May 2.

Super Cute Bunny Waving

Anyone in these divisions attending the meet and greet with Sarge please send me the first names of those attending with you and yours as well so I can add to the name tags I have made for the FB group members. Can't wait to meet everyone and hear more about these fantastic young people who have decided to serve our country!
