For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I know that they were told about the bombings and any SR with family in Boston was allowed to make phone calls to check on them.

Hi ChristinaS,
We also live 50 miles from the Boston area and several of my SR's gym friends ran the Marathon. I wrote my son to let him know that everyone was fine including his friend at Fisher College which is a block away. When he called yesterday he knew the incident had ended and one was dead and the other was in custody. He did not know specifics. So to answer your question..they did get briefed on the incident..just not a lot of details. Hope this helps!

Thanks, that does help! I am glad your family and friends are safe. My husbands aunt is a CC nurse at Beth Isrial. She said she now knows what it is like for our soldiers on the front line. She also said it has taken a lot of faith and forgiveness to do her job over the last few days.

I haven't been on for a while and I was reading few of the post, I noticed that someone was wondering how much our Sailors new about what was going on back home - My son called home as soon as he found out about what was happening.Within a day(maybe) His step-dad works in Boston and was in the middle of all of this. He just needed to know that we were all ok. Thankful he was not hurt and made it home safe. I think they keep them very informed.
Also I saw the picture of the group could I ask what group it is?

Actually, from what my Sailor told us this weekend, they do not keep them informed on what is happening outside of boot camp at all. It just so happened that with so many SRs from the Northeastern part of the country, they singled out those from the Boston area, took them out of the barracks, informed only those SRs about what had happened and allowed them to make phone calls home to check on family. It was only once those SRs returned to the barracks that they told the rest of them what was going on. They truly do keep them shut off from the outside world. Some RDCs do not even allow letters with sports/teams scores/updates. It just depends on the RDCs.
