:o) One Friday and another milestne ("the box") down for you. Eight (or maybe 7) more Fridays to go. Your next milestone is the form letter, which should arrive toward the end of next week.

My son left from Shreveport, La going to Great Lakes on 4/17/13. I'm about to write my first letter!!! Can't wait to hear his voice again :-(

My son left 4/18 and I got the box yesterday 4/24. I would like to know when do I get his address? and if anyone knows when PIR will be according to his shipping date. and I want to say thank you for all the encouragement i have found in your posts.

The form letter usually arrives about 10 days after your SR's arrival at the RTC, but can be before that to up to 2 weeks after arrival. It often arrives a week after "the box" because "the box" is sent at the beginning of P-days and the form letter is sent at the end of P-days.

Join the groups and check out the information I posted below.

To guesstimate his PIR date, count 9 Fridays after arrival to get the most likely PIR date, 06/14/213, and then know that it can be the week before (more likely for one arriving on a Monday or Tuesday) or the week after, which is less likely, but does happen at times, especially when flights were delayed as they were last week. You have to wait on the form letter to know the PIR date for sure.

I got the box with his belongings - that was so surreal :) then a couple of days later I got the "template" letter that talk about graduation, mailing, etc... That was a happy moment !!! Hope all is ok with everyone else - I've already started writing letters :) you are all in my prayers

Since you've received the form letter, join the group for his PIR date. It is either

PIR 06/14/2013 TG 31 or PIR 06/07/2013 TG 30 - 11 Divisions (213-220, 812, 813 and 930). Click on the right one and join to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.

Thank you so much lemonelephant for all the information you provide. I miss my son so much and I can't wait to get at lease a note from him. But I can imagine how busy and tired they must be.

You are very welcome. They can only write on Sundays at first and even when they are permitted time to write on other days, they often are ony permitted to mail letters on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. You MAY get a "real" letter next week or it may be another week depending on when his division forms. They get to write for the first time on the first Sunday that they are in their permanent ship, which for him may be this Sunday or may be next Sunday if those arriving at the end of the week had to wait for others to arrive the next week to fill the division. You should be receiving the form letter soon because he should have mailed it yesterday or today.

I am beginning to really worry Andra my son. This is the longest I have ever gone without talking to me and he is my youngest of 4

You will be receiving the form letter soon and that will help you.  In the meantime, join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

My son arrived in Great Lakes on 4/15/13 too!  I received his box & his form with his address & grad info.  Receiving his clothes was hard & I cried but receiving his address made me extremely happy!  I immediately wrote him, but haven't received anything else.  I can hardly wait to get a letter.  I am so excited & proud of him, but as a mother, this is tough!  I wonder if our sons have met?  Hope you're doing well.  God Bless
