How long does A school usually last? And is there a graduation for family again?

depends on where his A school is, and what his job is. my husbands was only for a month, but it took him a month to class up...they had a graduation, but it was not near as big as PIR. just a simple one that other students went to. it was me a lady and her son there, we were the only civillians that went. but I was living down where he went to A school. do you know where his A school is? and what is his job?

he is in Great Lakes for A school and he is damage control

you can google his job and see how long the schooling process actually is, but then you have to take into consideration, if the school is backed up and how long it will actually take him to class up. once he gets there he can ask his superiors if family is allowed at the graduation. alls the did at my husbands A school grad was call them up to get a piece of paper and say where their first command was. it was super fast . the longest part was waiting for them to give my husband is actual certificate :)

Hi!  My husband will be graduating from RTC May 10th, from there he will be going to Groton, CT for subs.  My question is will I be able to accompany him there?  Heard from the grapevine that if the school is a year or more the Navy will allow family to accompany him. I called housing at the Naval base in Groton and the gentleman I spoke with said if he is going through BESS I won't be able to accompany him.  Forgive me but I'm not to keen on the acronyms but what is BESS, ATT and TCNO?  I would ask my husband but communication is next to nothing there.  This individual forwarded my call to someone else and she said I would be able to go there.  So therefore I am throughly confused.....pack or don't pack that is the question. Also are you familiar with Groton and their base housing?  We have no children, it would only be the 2 of us. Anything you can enlighten me with will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Thank you so very much for your reply!  You really helped me understand what is going on!  I already got ahead of myself a little (anxious) and called housing at the sub base, spoke with Donna, she was also very helpful.  Base housing there sounds like they are pretty decent.  We are eligible for a 2 bdrm.  I am torn with the decision to live on base and give up all the BAH but I would feel safer on base or live off base.  She also told me about BESS and how I'd have to wait until he graduates which was disheartening because I miss him dearly, I got a letter from him the other day and he too also found out about BESS needless to say he was saddend also but we are strong and we shall survive!  LOL.  by the way you said you drove two cars from AZ to CT.  We are from Phoenix.  My husband was in dep at Paradise Valley. I decided I would transport my vehicle there.  I have no one to help me drive and I certainly can not drive that far by myself, I get sleepy just driving down the street LOL, thats excaturating  a little but you know what I mean. I would love to keep in contact with you, and hopefully you are still there by the time I get there even for a day or so at least  lol!   I will definately look up that site, and again with great appreciation thank you for your information!
