So we're waiting to hear about the next class up for the ems and most are going to be going to ny.  Where do most of the boys live?  Saratoga springs?  Has anyone ever lived in albany?

It took my son 2 days.   He stopped in DC the first night and saw some sights during the morning and then drove on the next day and got into Saratoga Springs late that night. It depends if your sailor is good at long distant driving.  Some of his friends took their time and did it in 3 days.

My son had orders to leave for NY this week but the orders got pulled today.  He already had made plans for a place to live and to see his GF during the 10 day leave.  He put in for a Chit now to see her since he already booked the flight when he got his orders.  Any idea why they are making last minute changes and if a Chit can get approved that fast?  His flight is Saturday.  Very stressful and now he's pulling the "I'm a grown up" card and not talking to me.

Rachel remember changes happen with the Navy all the time. The same thing just happened to my son. He had airline reservations and the leave got postponed for another month. He had to stay at work longer because there were problems with the boat. It depends what the reasons are for your son. They might need him to stay. If not I think chits can get approved quickly . We had to call Virgin America and American Airlines and send copies of his orders to get his money back. Your son will not lose money on the airline if you are persistent. Good Luck. He will get home eventually. Semper Gumby!

Leave getting changed is different than orders getting pulled though.  That sounds unusual to me, are there extenuating circumstances?  My friend was on the list to go to NY but he got changed to stay on grad hold since he is doing work for the navy in kings bay.

Also, if you show the flight reservations, chits can be approved quickly.  My bf had to go home, he booked a flight and three days later he was on his way.  On the other hand, he put in a request for us to go on vacation, and we got it approved 5 days before we left after waiting for several weeks.

There  weren't any circumstances that I know of.  He just got back from Kings Bay last week and was skipped over for NY in March when the rest of his friends went to Prototype.  He was told that all of the Nukes in Kings Bay were skipped since they were already working.  I am going to have to tie my thumbs together so I can't text him and see what's going on.  I know he will call me when he has better news but it's hard to wait and see.

He booked thru Orbitz or Expedia since he was detouring to WA State to see Kaiti (on his way to NY) since he hasn't seen her for 6 months.  I will let him know to be persistant!  I'm hoping it's all approved and he's just being dramatic :)

Yup that's exactly what I was thinking!  That's why my friends orders got pulled as well, he didn't even come back from Kings Bay.  I hope it get's approved, let us know how it goes!
