Well, I've gone from a DEP to a BCMom, he left today and I received the phone call around 9:10.  I've been in his room and placed a blue candle in the window(like those plastic christmas candles).  This made me feel good.   Will start marking down the days tomorrow.  From what everyone says he is in bed right now but will be up at 12:00.  I know I am one of thousands of moms but it's my one.  I am very proud of his decision but already miss him.  Is there anyone else on here with a son that left for RTC today?

I called her recruiter last night and he looked up her address for me. Good luck!

Please do not send letters before you get the form letter.

Hi everyone, my son left  May 7th also. It was nice to hear from him with the "I'm here" call even though it was to short. His box came home yesterday I have spent today in busy work but wish I could talk to him. I look forward to the letter and can't wait to get it. His girlfriend came over with yellow roses for me for Mother's day since he will not be here to give them to me this year.  My heart aches for her she seems so lost they are usually joined at the hip and have been so all through high school. I just have to keep reminding her how excited he was to start his life in the Navy and how proud we should be of him.

It's Sunday and Mother's Day, my younger son brought me flowers and a card so that eased the pain of missing the older son, my SR.  We received the box Friday and just patiently waiting the form letter.  I'm anxious for it, already written 3 letters and started 2 other ones.  Luckily I am a teacher and senior sponsor and with this being the last 2 weeks of school, I am really busy and that helps me, it's when I come home and see the empty room and his car that takes my breath away.  Let's stay strong Moms and we will get through this.

My daughter's recruiter mentioned July 5th or July 12th, so I am anxiously awaiting that PIR letter as well.  I didn't realize June 28th was even a possibility.

Got the letter!  Its June 28!!!

Some who arrived on that date will have PIR on 06/28/2013 and some will have it on 07/05/2013 (or whatever date PIR is that week). You will just have to wait on the form letter.

I just got my sons letter!  Graduation is June 28!!!!  So excited!!!

How exciting for you!  Congrats

Hi... I am officially a BCMom and my heart is breaking :(  Never knew I could miss him this bad...my son left on Wednesday, May 8th.  I am patiently awaiting the box and the letter... ready to get these daily letters in the mail.  I say a prayer for each and every one of you moms!

I agree... I am glad you got your letter... it helps me to start planning for PIR.  I was hoping it would be the week before or week after July 4th.

The group will be up this evening. PIR does happen on other weekdays if there is a federal holiday at the end of the week. We have heard that that will be a four day weekend, which will be good news for anyone with a Sailor who stays in GL. Those flying out MAY also get to wait and fly out on Friday.
