Hi!

I'm Very new to all of this but very excited about this new life we're about to have! My husband and I have 2 young kids ages 3 and 1 and after he finishes with bootcamp in July he's supposed to be moving to Monterey Ca to go to school there to become a Linguist. It's a 2 year program so I know we'll be moving with him but they had said he won't be able to help us with the move since he has to go straight out to school. I'm just trying to figure out how I will move a 3 year old and 1 year old from Ohio all the way to California without him! Anyone have any advice on this? Should I fly with the kids and have our car and things shipped?

Any advice is helpful! Thanks so much!

Haha So I just now saw you had posted this! I just sent a reply to the post that you had put up on your page:) My husband sounds like he's going for the exact same thing as your hubby! His name is Mike and will be flying out of Cleveland oh on the 16th. They're probably gonna get to know each other so well! This is so cool!

Brians flying out of cleveland too! his recruiter is driving him up wednesday morning then he fly's out thursday with your husband. They probably will!! he's so convinced he wouldn't make friends with anyone there because everyone's going to different area's and he thought he would be the only one in his unit to be going to monterey , but no! haha this is awesome!!

i stand corrected brian told me he is leaving out of Columbus not Cleveland, but still they will meet in boot camp!

Oh ok well that's still very cool! It's so crazy that we're all living in Ohio and going to the very same place both married with 2 kids. I keep looking up photos of Monterey and getting excited about all there is to do and see with kids! The aquarium, the dennis the menace park, the beach, its gonna be so cool I think:)

I just hope the move goes smoothly and we get out there soon after he does! Do you know when you guys will be able to move yet?

the monterey bay aquarium is amazing, and there are some amazing beaches there and a short hour drive to San Francisco !!!  its super crazy! i read your post to my husband and he thought i was kidding around :) I have the same hopes as you! its gonna be hard moving the kids to cali especially driving back there... I don't know yet... i have seen some articles that say not until stage two  or three others say as soon as they get the orders they can call housing and get it started...but its all very confusing, do you know anything yet?

Yea I think it's gonna be a great place to live with kids(:

As far as knowing anything I really don't know much yet!! We've talked about maybe shipping the car to Cali and me just flying with the kids when it's time to move but we'll have to see if that will all work out...I just don't know how I could drive that far with the kiddos! Plus that's a ton of miles to put on the car it might not even be worth it..I have no idea if the Navy helps you to ship your car though or not! Are you planning on going to the boot camp graduation? I'm def planning on going with Ava and my husband's parents. My mom might watch Mikey as he hates long car drives and is still only 13 months.

I've told my husband all about you guys as well and he can't wait to meet Brian(:

The Navy won't ship your car.

Yea I really didn't think so either! Our recruiter told us that they might but I doubted that was true. We'll just have to figure out what the best thing to do is.

We have talked about driving the car or selling it and then just flying out there, because as you said it might not even be worth it. I'll for sure be going to graduation! i'm going with my husbands parents and the twins( not looking forward to that car ride) The rest of our family is out in northern California or i would be doing the same as you....We have thought about doing a Ditty move or just waiting for them to move us but i have no idea how long that could take

Brians excited to meet him as well!(: Can you believe today's our last full day with them? :/ pretty much sucks

We're prob gonna do the move where they help with everything as our

recruiter told us he wouldn't be able to come home at all after boot camp so he won't be helping with the move-we have a full house of stuff right now! I'm trying to go through and get rid of what we don't need to make the move a little less crazy Haha

Yea it's crazy we drop them off today...at least we can talk about it as we're going through the same thing! I'm hoping our 3 year old won't get too upset as she's Really close with her Daddy and still doesn't really understand what he's gonna be doing-she does know we're gonna move to California and is really excited about that(:
