Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 814
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there ladies!!!

Saltyocean, you would think so, but I have heard form many mothers who have had their sailors home for the holidays and their rooms were a mess. I guess they just need that break. Besides no inspections to pass. lol
Does anyone know when the AIRRs leave for Pensacola after PIR. What can you give them that they can use there?
I see that anything they get has to be given when they are out of the recruit center, is that right? Any help here whould be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Yes, you have to give them their personal items at the airport. Nothing can return to RTC with them after Liberty. Ask your SR what you should bring up for PIR to give to them. They have a black backpack, a large seabag, and a garment bag (uniforms) so hopefully what you bring for them will fit in their existing luggage.
Especially make sure they do not accidentally take their cell phones with them when they pack RTC. This was addressed specifically in a group chat last week.
Hi Ladies!!! Its been a LONG week..I work full time like a lot of Moms! I have been reading the posts from my Samsung Galaxy but its hard to type on! I am so glad to have this group for support!!! THANK YOU.
This week my husband was on buiness travel when I received his "BOX"! My husband text me to say, "dont open it till I get home, wait for me!" Dads are sentimental too! We waited until Friday night. Then upon opening "The Box" I laughed and loved the smell of his clothes! TOO funny??....Such is a Mom!! LOL...
We also received a phone call!!! 30 min in total on Sat mid-morning! He sounded really good, upbeat, but a little tired. He stated that he had blisters from breaking in the boots but many guys did. He said the food was good and that the bed was confortable when you are looking at 4 hours of sleep! They have been getting little sleep. As we all know the requirments on them are increased!
He reiterated what every Mom has said: "please have my friends and family write a lot" Mail Call is thier Christmas! He didnt get a letter on the first mail call and he said he was disappointed! When the from letter came in I wrote the next day, but I guess it didnt make it for the first mail call. :--(
I know we can only share a little bit with eachother....my son is with 3 other guys from his training back home in FL. So perhaps there is another Mom on here which perhaps is my son's friend! This is great as I know they will support eachother!!
I hope all of you have had a phone call or a wonderful letter to place a smile on your face!
Nautigator Mom!
How do we friend eachother from the 814 DIV if our profiles are set to private? I see where we can "send message" but no field to click on to "friend" ?
Hey can anyone tell me what will exactly happen after the PIR? How long is the liberty he will get? Will he leave for A school on Saturday morning?
May I add a question to the above? If you take a shuttle into the graduation, how do you get your SR out for liberty. Do you take him back with you( will the shuttle stay around), do you go back and get the rental car?--how do you fine your SAILOR if they don't have phone access? Is it better to drive?? Oh, so many questions. And if you want to go to the airport to see them off, how do you meet up with them and get that pass into the waiting area at the air port????????
Saltyocean, if your son is not staying in Great Lakes for A school then you should be able to take him with you right after PIR. Liberty is called at that time. If they stay in Great Lakes then they will have to move after PIR and can be picked up later. I honestly do not know what happens at the airport because my son stayed in GL for PreBuds.
