While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello all!
I don't see anyone yet for 2013. I just joined the site, my son signed for DEP last week. He has been to MEPS, and has a BC date of October 29th, 2013. I'm having a hard time with the fact that he will miss Thanksgiving, his 18th birthday, and Christmas while at BC. He just made this decision in the last 3 weeks, so it has been quite a whirlwind month.
Looking forward to meeting other Moms who have kids leaving!

If he keeps that ship date, it is possible that he will go home between BC and "A" School since he MAY have PIR during the holiday stand down at the "A" Schools--that is the only time that Sailors have leave before the end of "A" School.

Momm2Five, my son did the same thing. He just up and decided to do it. Then after he got in he decided to do Special Ops. My son went about the same time in 2012 as yours is leaving. Mine left on Oct 22 and graduated 12-21-12. He did get to come home for Christmas. However, it was the FIRST TIME EVER, they let recruits leave after bootcamp for the Holidays. My son was not successful at making diver so he is now training to be a corpsmans (Medic) Then, he plans on trying to be a special ops medic. We will see. I do know how you feel tho. You will adjust.

Felicia TEXASNAVYMOM, you are mistaken about last year being the "first time ever" that Sailors went home between BC and "A" School or training. It has been happening for many years. The Sailors go home during part of the holiday stand down at the "A" Schools every year. It is the only time that Sailors are allowed to go in the hole on leave. That holiday stand down happens around Christmas and goes through New Year's Day or after, so graduating Sailors with a PIR around that time can have Leave for some of that time.
Since your Sailor has changed ratings and is now training for HM, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio (clickable link).

My son has date of 10/22/13! This is like a dream, n such a whirlwind of emotions. I hadn't even thought about the fact that he will nt be here for the holidays! Glad to know we have other ppl going through this as well.

This is my son's ship date as well. He also made the decision in three short weeks which kind of threw me because he never talked of joining the military before. For the last 2 years we have been preparing for him to go to a college 45 min. from home and now when he leaves for BC, he's gone. Now that my head is done spinning I just have to get into a different mind set of where he is going with his life. We are so proud of him and have told him so several times and I also told him if he catches me crying not worry, it's just a "mom thing" and I am fine. This will be great if we get to have him home for the holidays. :)

Hi- My son is supposed to ship out on October 28th so they will be there together! Luckily he will have his birthday(20th) here in June. Someone said that is is possible....but only possible... that they may graduate a little early and be finished on Friday, December 20. I was told that I should not get my hopes up but that it is possible. Wouldn't that be great??
This is all a lot to absorb! It is taking a while for me to get used to this but I am happy that he is happy!

Yes, it is possible that those arriving on a Monday or Tuesday will end up in the TG from the week before and be in a Push Division. Either way, if his ship date is not moved up, your future will graduate during the holiday stand down for "A" Schools so you will have some time with him as he has leave for part of that.

So...if he graduates on the 20th or the 27th he will get to go home with us for leave?

It all depends on how he decides to take the leave and how the TSC decides it should be taken. He has to check in first. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend and the info next to
near the bottom. -

Hi Anchormom!
I heard nothing about a changing PIR date, but that would be great. We are only about 5 hours from Great Lakes, so the whole family will be there to celebrate Christmas.
He did just graduate this year, it has been a lot to take in! We were looking at colleges and he was accepted to a few and BAM! He tells us he is enlisting!
Glad to know you are the same date as us! His date changed to the 28th!
