Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 814

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

thank you sjtina...we were told thd same thing....pack move stuff then we will see him...however my son said that he didnt think they were going "across the street" that they were moving to a ship close by..??? or he misunderstood. 6 more weeks of physical prep!

Thank you Sitina, Now the question is how do you fine out what day, airport and time do they leave?  We have tickets to fly out Sunday morning, but in his letter he said something about having three days with us.  Oh, why doesn't the Navy give them the info before people make their reservations???

We have two other young men in our circle who went through RTC recently. They find out the last few days as it depends on their A School location and start date. One departed for his A School First thing Saturday monrning so very little time to visit. The other had A school in Great Lakes but instead of having the weekend, he had 2 weeks before it started....he did have to remain in Great Lakes though.

I have reservations for air and hotel.  I am also renting a car.  I was told from a mother who just went through PIR to be patient.  My son is doing A school at GL.  After PIR he will have a short time for pictures, then he has to go move his stuff and check in with his new group (I'm not sure what they're called).  Once he moves his stuff he might get liberty.  So it all depends on how long it takes to report and get liberty.  My question is at the PIR can I give my son his Phone?  Are there enough phones for him to call us to come get him if he can not have his phone?  What should I bring him.  What kind of clothes, electronics, etc can we bring him?

guitarmom, Is you son starting PreBuds? If so he will be part of a class. Once he moves, he will call you from the base phone to come pick him up sometime in the afternoon. He can then have his cell phone, laptop, and other belongings. Usually only what he can fit into a backpack. A change of clothes for the hotel, especially since they will be in their whites(no civies in public). Saturday my son wore his peanut butters, easier to keep clean.

Kitten says Hello

Hi everyone!  I just received (3) three letters from my son.  He wrote that he is sick, and tired, but well fed.  I'm so glad that he is still so excited about being there!

Hi moms, we received a letter a couple of days ago, well fed and doing fine.

We have our rooms at the Naval Lodge, so very excited

I just got a phone call from my son.  He sounded tired but good.  Does anyone know where I can take him  during PIR weekend?  What to do in the area?  Where to take him to eat?

If the weather is half way decent, be sure to visit the Navy Pier in Chicago. there were a few interesting restaurants and shops all in one. Also there is the Sears Tower if you do not mind heights. Great Adventure is close by and so is the Gurnee Mall, which is huge. I heard Chicago's pizza is something to try.

How far is this from the PIR base?  I heard they can only go 40miles from base.  Is this correct?
