So my fiance just got paid today, as everyone pretty much did, but he started basic on may 7th and as I was looking at how much he got paid it was not what we both though it would be. Could anyone explain as to why that would be like that? I mean could they have only paid him from the 15 to the 1st or do they pay from when you start basic? I am so confused over this and of course I have now way to ask him to see whats going and I really don't know whats going on. Can anyone help me????

Rikki they could had taken money out for their uniform and money to buy their necessities. My husband pay was way shorter than his first pay check.

The first couple of paychecks will be much lower than you expected because they take out the cost of uniforms and necessities. I know, they don't seem to inform people that they do this! :(

Yea bc we were expecting double of what he got and he only got half which shocked me and I was worried as to if that was all the money he would be making through boot camp and thinking I can't pay our bills on this. So when do the "real" paychecks come like where all the money is on there?

Sadly...it takes a few months. I know this from experience when I was in and then again after I got out and my husband joined. They are given new uniforms three times during basic because you usually end up losing so much weight and because they need to be fitted for their dress uniforms near the end of basic for PIR. So, sadly you won't really see much of an improvement until after he is out of basic. I ended up having to get a part-time job to supplement.

Yea I mean I can make this work if thats what we get every time he gets paid if not I am so screwed. And to get a job where I live has become a huge problem in even finding one that will give you an interview.

I know whats the like...I live in the butthole of the world and it was impossible to get a job with my credentials since no one wanted to pay me even though I said I would take less. I ended up working fast food for a couple of months and the manager was SO PROUD that she had a licensed educator working for her....making french fries....in the end it all got better. Once he gets out of basic his paychecks will start to normalize and you should be fine after that.

yea he gets out of basic on july 3rd and then goes to A school so like 2 more paychecks and that will be it but it still makes me worry. Do they set up the Mypay accounts there? How do they look at the paystub? And when can they look at the paystubs?

I was able to set it up myself online. So long as you have his information you should be able to as well, unless they have changed it this was a few years ago after all. Otherwise yeah, he should be able to set it up himself once he gets to A school and has some internet access.

so i can just set it up for him? because if so I would so love to do that

https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx

Should be able to go to create an account and work from there.

did you do this for you or did you do this for your husband? the only reason I ask is I don't want him to get mad at me

Recommend you check out the bottom of that page..it is against  the law to set access the mypay if it isn't your ss#.

If it is found out that someone who isn't the Sailor is accessing their account and they know about it they can get in TROUBLE.

Sorry to say the Navy doesn't recognize fiance's as anything, so no a fiance can't just create a mypay account for the military member.
